May Fitness Group --ALL Welcome!!
Anyone else need a little structure with their fitness commitments? In the past months years (since Sept 2010), a few of us certainly made working out and exercise a new, healthy hobby. Makes a person feel proud to accomplish goals, right?!
This will go throughout May in hopes that a whole month is enough to start a new, healthy habit of working out regularly. Tell me what you want to accomplish this week. Studies show that if you write it down, and say you WILL do something, you're more likely to stick to your word. It doesn't hurt to know that you'll report how you did either. No judgments here. If you missed a workout, let's talk about it and get you back on track. That's what we're here for :)
Set your own goals and keep us posted. I plan to update my progress every time I do something active.
You are OUR inspiration. Talk to us. Tell us what you've done. Drop by and see how motivating it can be to read about the progress of others. If you're feeling behind, talk to us. We're here for you.

Today is a vigorous cleaning day and that is my workout (that and cause where I workout is the area being cleaned so I can't :P). We get this horrid green slime algae and/or a bright orange pollen each in the winter then early spring very hard to scrub off, at my grandmothers so I wash her vehicles for her. Also cleaning out the garage today too.
[Workout or more Cleaning Day :P]
2 hours - Washing 2 vehicles and washing the front gate (90 mins), lifting/lugging/moving large or heavy items.
Cardio day today: ran on treadmill.
Kevin maybe it's a same sex children as parent thing with your son. When my 2 daughters were the same age we just used to aggravate each other all the time. I consider it a success that they made it through the last year of high school without me killing them. At the same time they seemed to get on OK with their Dad and didn't have the same issues with him. Now with my son it's the other way around. DH & DS are constantly harping at each other and can't agree on anything, and of course my son believes that his father couldn't possibly know anything. Strangely, he's OK with me.
Roman: I'm with you, I couldn't spot him, so maybe I'll just have to keep trying for a while. ;)
Hollow: stealth workout for you today :D
Enjoy the weekend :)

tee-hee thanks :)
you have a great weekend too ;D
OGR - nice bench presses. I have enough trouble dealing with the ind oors - can't imagine dealing with a cold wind and dark sky while lifting! It must be great when the weather is cooperating.
Mommy Japan sounds fabulous - glad you are having such a good time.
Vyper - glad to see you. Sounds like you are doing great.
Today's workout:
Arc trainer 15 minutes - 225
Step Aerobics - 40 minutes
"Worked" the dugout today at Sonny boy's baseball game for a couple of hours - official duties - keep the batting order going, make sure hats/helmets and gloves are on, pick up bats off the field, jump up and down and root for the kids and give pep talks.
bowling with hubby and sonny boy tonight - 40 minutes - I won the second game!
I had a birthday party for five year old today. On my feet all day. Going for bike ride tomorrow.
despina: I THINK I might be able to deal with cold better while exercising, than with high heat/humidity. Congrats on beating hubby & sonny boy. I can't bowl worth anything -- I'm pretty much useless with anything that requires aiming.
mommy: Sounds like you're having a blast! And I know Misha is too young to really remember this trip, but I'm sure you've taken a lot of pics, and I'm sure her grandparents are enjoying the time with her.
jenhelle: I can't recall if I ever mentioned it, but... your little one is super cute!
5K today, mostly jogging, mixed with some sprints and walks. Then bodyweight squats, pushups, and crunches. I'm trying to make up for the missed workouts in April.
Oh, I feel dumb I been Squatting as if I was squatting with dumbbells&n bsp;(arms down) not a barbell, so upset with myself I thought it was only exercise I had nailed and I was doing the dumbbell variation with using the barbell, tomorrow I will do the proper form, I really hate myself.
[Workout]
30 mins - Treadmill 15 incline, 3.0 speed
Strength/Weight Training:
2x6 Power Clean (just barbell)
2x10x15(lbs) Squats (barbell + weight)
1x7, 1x6 Over Head Press (just barbell)
Starting strength today:
Squats: 3x5x85
Press: 3x5x45
Bent over row: 3x5x60
Assisted chins 1x5
Walked with the dog after dinner as I needed to encourage my food to go down :)
Hollow: don't beat yourself up, just watch some more utube vids and move on. At least you've been lifting something.
Mommy: glad you're having such a great time.
Busy day today sorting out stuff ready for the week. I do feel like I have more energy again though since I started getting back into my routine. I find the less I do, the less I feel like doing and the more "tired" I feel. I'm glad to have a bit more energy back.
My weight has been stuck at the same for the last 2 weeks after going down consistently since February. I'm hoping that getting moving again will start things going in the right direction.
Keep making the right choices people. Have some fun along the way too :)
hollow: That's okay, now you know, and knowing is half the battle!;) If it makes you feel any better, I was going through some parts of NROLFW yesterday, and realized that I've been doing the YTWL sequence wrong all along. I was doing Y-T-W-L-Y-T-W-L and so on, when I should've been completing the Ys, then completing the Ts, etc.
deborah: I always found that weird and don't really understand why -- that the more physical activity done, the more energetic you feel! But it's true. I always need much less coffee during my more active weeks.
Quick question to those who've done NROLFW Stage 6, as I'll be done with Stage 5 this week and want to get ready. It says it's optional -- has anyone done it, and has anyone skipped it and why? I don't think I can do negative chin-ups properly yet, and I haven't really checked the height of the chin-up bars at the gym -- but can I substitute assisted chin-ups instead, in case?
No logs this weekend because too hard to detetrmien logs for both food and exercise.
But I threw a party friday night fro the sailing club including lifting lots of heavy metal tables and coolers and keg. (fyi when I alone lifted the biu round ice bucket full of ice with keg and carried it across and then one of the guys wanted to move it to a sligtly different place and could not move it that was a sucess moment. ) Then saturday I did weights, threw a yard sale with my friends for a few hours including low level spinnin their exercise bike for about 2 hours until the thing sold . After everything ended up at goodwill truck that did not sell i went home and then went to my neices tee ball game which involved running after my nephew for half the game and getting to see my folks. Then I babysat my sisters kids with my folks while my sister when out for her aniversary and then went home again. I got up ran 3 miles, went out for bagels and then went and worked on one of my boats for 6 hours then i came home cleaned up stuff and then crashed on the couch with a trash romance novel. I'm worn out. Seriously I need some vacation I've been rushing around like nobodys buisness. On the bright side both at the party and at the boat repair event i found moments when i was easy able to lift things that i never could have done before. Which is awesome.
Romman YTWL are supposed to be Y then T then W then L are you sure I'bve been doing t hem constant in a YMCA one to the next move. Yikes opps. Miore physical activity to a point helps with energy and then the point is hit and you have maxed out and much more tired. ( i hit that point in the last week)
kev -are you sure you are not a hot sexy male model?"Darn messing with my mental images.
Roman: I did stage 6 because I wanted to do the chin up part. I still can't do a chin up ;). I did the negative chins, but it was more like a controlled lower. I also added in Mistress Krista's assisted chin ups so that I would feel like I was actually getting some practice at the up part:

Kevin: Don't feel too bad, it sounds like the TSA may want to give you a quick pat down, even if they don't want to form a lasting relationship with you ;)
We went rock climbing all day yesterday, and it was good. I'm really sore this morning. Part of that is from the climbing, and part from the Saturday's long run.
kevin: Look at it this way -- your goods are sufficiently yummy that it sparked consideration/discussion between them. :D
deborah: Considering it took me this long to manage real push-ups, I'm guessing it's going to take at least another year for me to get to chin-ups! Re-read the article, and I think I can manage it with the squat rack. I just couldn't figure out how to my chin up high enough with the pull-up bar -- I can't jump that high!
hollow: That's what NROLFW said. :/ I was doing them YMCA-style as well based on youtube videos. And I have just one workout left in Stage 5!
Just swam a little bit today, 12 laps, nice and easy.
totally out of the loop on someone's "goods" and tsa agents. :P Oh well! I'll have to go back and reread the thread. :)
Back to the gym today!!! happy day!!! I was going to start NROL Strength 2, but decided I might not quite be ready the day after a long flight, so I instead did NROL for Abs!!!! The first strength workout, and it wasn't too bad. I liked that it was a full body workout, but I really did miss the tempo changes and focusing on certain body parts on certain days. Guessing I might start NROL Strength 2 later this week.....I'm determined to get to my deadlift/squat/pullup goals!!!
Warm up: 5 min jump rope
NROL for Abs: Did the pushups on a swiss ball, not as difficult as I remember them being (used to try to do them a few years ago and failed miserably...now I can actually get my chest to the ball!). Also used a barbell for the split squat with front foot elevated. Not too sure if i was doing them correctly, but it didn't feel as hard as I thought it would be....maybe i just wasn't pushing myself enough.
Elliptical: 20 min moderate
While in Japan hubby and I went running a lot and I'm actually kind of tired of running. Amazing that I could even say that! We also used our bands and did intervals (running) up stairs and up an incline a few days.....body weight exercises other days and stretched everyday (those plane seats are incredibly cramped...especially for the 9 1/2 hour ride to Japan!). Already missing Kobe and Yamaguchi....I REALLY wish we could live there one day.
Thanks deborahamorgan and roma ncoat, I guess it was just a I felt a silly moment and was to hard on myself :P
@mommyhawaii, I hope you achieve that dream! I think I am living in the wrong country and so far I have liked other countries I have visited/temporally lived/stayed but some language barriers, affordability and job/visa route, etc. makes it seem harder but I won't snuff my dream that easy neither! Or maybe I am a sucker for a men with an accent ;P
hollowness--I'm a sucker for a guy with an accent too, although the Japanese accent isn't quite as sexy as an Italian one. :)
