May's Distance Challenge

Quote  |  Reply

Here we go again!  Welcome to the May Distance Challenge thread! I hope that it is OK that I am starting this again ;)

Hello again to previous challengers, and welcome to all newcomers!!

All distance/fitness goals are welcome.

We have runners, walkers who track daily steps, some who track their distance rowing and climbing, swimmers...

Anyone can join, and I'll try to get your goals posted as soon as possible.

Also, feel free to add in your own additional fitness challenges as well.  For those of you that like an additional challenge, consider adding in some push-ups or planks or some workout time.  See April's topic for different options and difficulty levels.

You can post your updates as often as you like.  Some people post daily (even more than once!), others weekly and others in between (I usually update my numbers daily).

Personally, my target is once again a 160 mile running goal this month - I got so close last month I can taste it!  :D

Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress :)

Let's support and motivate each other to keep it up!  Happy May and Good luck everyone!

Had a nice long run today. 5 miles at around 6 mph without any walking. A great accomplishment for me.

so 5 miles down

45 to go

WEEE! I can do this!

Oooh! Is it too late to sign up?

I wanna get in at least 124 miles this month.

So far, I'm down 4 miles. :)

Hi All - let's go May!!  My goal this month is up to 125.  I am so excited!

  • May 1 - 8 miles

8/125 done.

  • May 1: 10.0 km
  • May 2: 30.1 km

Total: 40.1/225 km (25/140 miles)

Had my long run yesterday; it was supposed to be 29 km.  But I was feeling peppy right from the start, so I decided early to try to hit 30 km just because I thought I could (and I'm supposed to do that next weekend anyway).  By about the 24th kilometer, I was no longer feeling so peppy, but still managed to finish it off. :)  It didn't help that the middle 14 kilometers were done at "marathon pace", instead of an easy pace (8:00 min/mile instead of 9:30).

Happy Monday all!

So far this Month:

  • May 1: 4.5 miles
  • May 2: 11.1 miles (cycling)

May Mileage: 21.2/160 miles (138.8 miles to go!)

I just realized that I've been copying and pasting my format from last month and I've been saying "April Mileage" for my totals.  Whoops!  :)

Had a nice run today, although I had to stay indoors since it was pouring out - and I mean, POURING.  I have a good feeling about this week, though!  Hopefully the weather will decide to cooperate.  It is humid and muggy and just generally gross here today...

tonight is my senior banwuet so i just fit in a short one!

  • may 3: 3.5 miles

of course!  I've added your goals to the OP :)

Boy did I have energy today! I would have run longer but didn't have time, so I just tried to push myself to go fast. Tomorrow I'd like to try to run six miles. I've only done it once before, and it might not have been quite six.. more like 5.8? But I have a good feeling.. If I brace myself for it all day, I can do it!

  • May 1: Rest Day
  • May 2: 5 miles running
  • May 3: 3 miles running, 1.5 elliptical
  • May 4: 3.5 miles running

Total: 13 miles, 37 to go!

hmm.. wonder if fifty miles was too low of a goal?? =)

Hi...I'm not sure if I am posting in the correct place...but I started running in Jan after stopping for 4 years. Trying to get back to my Pre-children running weight. I have only lost 17 pounds since then but I ran a half marathon  in April.  I would like to run 100 miles  this month. I have run 16 since the first of May. So 84 to go!
