How often should you exercise?
love
you're 14 and you are still growing.
cut it down to 3-5 days a week.
I do 55 minutes of cardio every morning at 4am. I sometimes too wonder, is this too much? However, if I DON'T exercise, I feel tired and lazy.
Is it okay that I do this 7 days a week as long as I am not feeling burned out or tired from it?

I'll tell you from experience about exercising that often. What could happen (usually did for me), is that you get burned out. If you feel the need to exercise a lot bc you're trying to get toned for the summer, bring it down to 5 days a week. If you're lifting weights (not heavy ones) for toning Heavy weight work better for toning, light weights will increase your muscles endurance but not their appearance, alternate the days for body parts. In other words, if you're doing legs one day, do arms the next day. To tone, you do more repititions, less weight. To build up muscle, do more weight and less repititions. Hope this helps. The only things you can do to "tone" muscles is to either make them bigger or burn the fat that is covering them, if you want to make them bigger you should lift heavy weights, if you want to burn fat you should also lift heavy weights, light weights with lots of reps is pretty much a waste of time in terms of "toning" muscles.
To the original poster, it is definatly safe/healthy to exercise an hour per day, hell it's healthy to exercise for 6 hours every single day. What isn't healthy is not eating enough calories to support your exercise. Being active is much more healthy than being sedentary.
As long as you're eating properly you can excerise often. It is recommened to have a rest day though, to give your body a day to recover fully from a week of exercise. I wokrout 6 days a week (per my coach/trainer) between 1 to 2 hours typically. I race mountain bikes and during the racing season I have two rest days per week.
If you enjoy working out a bunch I say stick with it, but give yourself one day of complete rest (i.e. no real exercise, maybe some light yoga or something if you feel the need). It works wonders for your body to day a day to recoop.
