Question about my fitness routine.

I am trying to lose weight and look lean and toned. I am wondering if what I am doing will accomplish this? I am 5'3", 143 lbs, female, eat about 1500-1600 calories a day.

M, W, F I do about 20-25 minutes upper body weights on machines, then 30 minutes cardio, either running, elliptical, sometimes a little stairmaster.

Tu and Thurs I do about 20-25 minutes on lower body weights using machines and another 30 minutes of cardio.

I try to get in 1 or 2 interval training on the treadmill, 1 minute at 5.2, 1 minute at either 7, 7.5 or 8 mph throughout.

I am wondering if I should add in lunges and squats (just unsing my own body, not bars or a machine for the squats) on leg days? I am really wanting to work on my upper thighs, my lower thighs are looking great these days!

Thanks in advance, I hope I provided enough info!!!

Incorporate barbell squats, and you're mostly set. Bodyweight squats are great for strength endurance, but they're not where it's at for the look you're after.

Interval training's a fantastic tool for fat loss and will help you lots with your goals, but for killer legs, squats is where it's at. See Lurn 2 squat good -- E-ZY! for instructions :)
