Did you get rid of your fat belly? show me how ?
I don't know what to say other than my belly bothers me a lot. why I am not losing fat from this area? any tips please???????????
Are you exercising? If so, what kind of exercises are you doing, for what given duration, and how many times a week?
Running (long distances) has always helped me with getting rid of the belly fat. Many moons ago I tried aerobics, but it didn't have the same effect as running did.

i run 12miles per week and has worked wonders for my belly.
Provide us with your everyday nutrition and work out regime, and we'll figure out how to tweak it for your benefit
Thanks so much. here is my nutrition and wort out regime:
breakfast: flaxseed oil ( one small tbs)
Gym at 7 am: 30 minutes treadmill + 30 minutes weight training.
Breakfast: 1/2 cup soy milk + 1/2 cup GOlean cereal + 170 g raspberries + 100g blueberries.
Snack: one apple
Lunch: shrimp + non fat cottage cheese + strawberries
snack: one apple
one yogrut before I hit the gym for another hour on the elliptical ( usually I burn 400 cals in one hour, distance 4.45 miles).
went home, I ate dinner a big salad ( tomatoes, lettuce, broocli, onions) + artichocke.
I don't go to the gym twice , usually one hour a day on the elliptical but now I am trying to add some weight training. If I have the time, I do half an hour extra in the morning.

I forgot to mention that running is so hard for me. I barely stay 30 minutes on the treadmill. my weight is 180 pounds and I am 5.3, I don't know if I should push myself to run or what?
The bad thing is when I step on the scale, it reads that I am losing weight , when I look at my belly, I see nothing changed.
Please help.

do exercises that focuses on the core of abs in the belly area.look for some videos on it on www.youtube.com
What gym do you use? I go to the YMCA and they have all kinds of classes. I have been taking this class called Body Pump. It is a Les Mills class and it rocks. I started my life change in January and I weighed in over 350Lbs, I am now at 300 and I feel great. I am in better shape now than I was in high school!! I would strongly recommend a class like that. Google Les Mills and you can get an idea of what classes are out there. Keep your head up and fighting the good fight!!!!!
dpetersen: congratulations. I am happy for you. YOu are right. I must fight the good fight. I am just frustrated because I believed I was fighting enough but it is not enough. I am not happy with the results even the scale says I am losing weight.
I go to Equinox gym. They have a lot of classes but not the one you mentioned. Will google it and see. Thanks for the advice.
I tried spinning classes and I was about to die:) I think my fitness level is not good yet.

I would also recommend swimming. When I started this deal, I was just doing the treadmill and soon became bored with it, even though I was losing weight. But then I ran into a plateou. That is when I got into these classes and started swimming. Once I got into these....the weight and inches have been peeling off. I have come to the conclusion that just doing cardio is not enough. One has to build muscle which inturn burns fat faster.
At 180 and 5'3," of course you still have a belly. :-)
For some of us, the belly is the last place we lose. Just be patient. You need to get your body fat % down before you start seeing improvements. I'm 5' and down to 110, about 20% bf%, and I have an apple shape. My thighs are now only 18" but I still have a belly. But I have finally noticed some improvements this past month.

safina1, have you taken any measurements? If you are losing weight, it is coming off from somewhere, unfortunately we can't chose where it comes from first. We can tone muscles in certain areas, like the core to give better posture and such though. Just keep at it, keep losing, and eventually it will be gone from all the right places.
I've seen it all over this site and am experiencing it right now... the answer is genetics! Every body looses fat differently, and spot training never seems to get the desired effects!
Your best bet is to just stick with it and be patient! You'll lose the stomach but it might take some time! My genetics have cursed me with a stomach that fat just clings to!! Also work your core! that way when you do lose the fat you'll have great looking midsection definition!

surgence: I tried a diet a few years ago and the first place where I lost fat was my belly. I didn't have any problems losing fat from this area before. Now, I do. I think in my case, the reason is not genetics but my lack of energy or bad exercise routine . I want to work out more harder, up my metabolism. and also would love to hear some successful experiences from people on this site.
Thanks
Thanks
Like everybody here, I would advice you to be patient. At your current weight, your body fat % is 31.9 which is high for a woman. Once you get to less than 25% (the recommended), you'll start seeing improvements, not only in your belly but all over.
I'm not an expert but it seems to me that you're having very little food for all the exercise you're doing. Check the allowance tool to see how many calories you should be eating. Also make sure that your diet is varied (it's very boring to have the same diet every single day) and that you add more protein.
I'm 5'4, 138 lbs. and I still have plenty fat on my abdomen. But I've lost a lot of inches since I started exercising regularly so I'm not that much worried. I figured that if I keep it up I'll lose some of the rest.

Safina1, when I was in highschool I took a wonderful class from a 40 year old who was in the best shape I have ever seen. She told me something that has stayed with me since then:
If you do the same work out every day your body gets used to it and slows down its weight loss. Instead it is best if you can do three different workouts during the week. Do one on Monday, Wednsday, and Friday. Another on Tuesday, and the third on Thursday. That way both you and your body don't get bored with the routine. (I did aerobics, tia bo, and running. But now swimming is the trick for me.)
Another hint that she gave me was to be sure that in your workout you keep your heartrate up for over 27 minutes. Once you get past that point you are nolonger burning just todays calories, you burn fat too.
I also have a question for you. What gives out first when you are on the treadmill? Muscles or lungs? If it is muscles you probably aren't getting enough protein and carbs in your diet to sustain the activity level. If its lungs you just have to work them up to running for a while. They have to get in shape too. :)
I hope this helps. Good luck! I know you can do it!

lay flat on the floor on your back. have someone stand over your head, hold there ankles. lift your legs up to their hands and then down but dont let your legs tough the floor. do about 20 twice a day. this will get your stomach gone in no time in a month youll have a six pack. : ]
Jembree: that is a good question. I guess my muscles. Also, I think I am too heavy to run for 30 minutes without stop. I get tired. really tired. I hate the treadmill.
Mirandarae: I don't get it. How is that? is there a website on this that can provide me with pic or more info?
