30 Day Shred Calories and buddy??
hey all,
I have been doing the Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga, and after reading all the raves about the 30 day shred I decided to try that. I have had it for 2 weeks, but just got around to trying it this afternoon (i know, i know). I am planning on doing it everyday for the next 30 days.
I am wondering 2 things....
Anyone want to start the shred in the next couple days and be my 30 day shred buddy? We can check in daily for motivation and track our results. I don't care if you have around the same stats as me, but just so you know I am 24, 180lbs, 5'5. My goal weight is 140-150, and right now I am shooting for the 150.
Secondly, how many calories do you think you burn doing this workout. Right now I am on level one, but plan to go to level 2 and then 3 when I feel comfortable. How do you log the calories burned?
thanks!!
Oh yeah...does anyone know how many calories Level 3 of the shred burns?
Aahh ladies..... L1 D6. I literally cross it off my calender every day i complete a workout. And just so you know, the shred work outs are longer than 20 min. Its more like 27-30 min. 4 more days and I can move onto L2. Its so weird sometimes when i work out bc I will have days when the jumping jacks are no problem and my breathing is light then other days when im ready to stop and take a breath. I dont stop though....lol..i just bear it and curse
Push ups are getting better. I did about 15-20. Lunges arent so bad but the arm lifts at the same time are a killer. My arms just burn so much that i have to not do at least 3 of them. ehh.
Do you ladies weigh in every 7 days or should i weigh in every 10 since im doing the 10 days straight on each level???
Jehzi~ You are a motivator! We all are bc we are trying so hard and keeping one another going.
Just keep me posted on how you are doing.
Slimfit ~ Thanks for the insight. I should measure myself. Where can i get some measuring stuff thats cheap? LoL...probably just a sewing section in walmart would be my best bet huh? Are you getting married? I feel you on the stress of a wedding. I myself am not getting married but my best friend is and I have to get my alterations done by the end of July and I would like to be fit. Good luck on the planning and stay calm. I know it can get crazy.
Wyogirl~ I believe Pa and Wyoming get similar weather. I love the entire feeling that snow brings to the holidays but seriously.....does it have to last forever!
Long winters but lately springs have been a little shorter and in the beginning of March/April we sometimes get an occasional snow shower. Eh. I agree that the weather is so unusual. Its very scary of the changes that the Planet is enduring. So, keep your head up and try to take advantage to every sunny day.
Omg ladies, you want to get pumped and motivated???? Go to the reviews on amazon about jillian michaels videos. I was on there looking at her No More Trouble Zones and a lot of ppl were saying that they had started out with 30 day shred and lost anywhere from 15 - 29 lbs and then moved on to the next level which was the Trouble Zone dvd that is about an hour long.
After reading a handful of stories I am super excited to finish my 30 days and move on to more of Jillians personal training.
Yay
Hi ladies,
Sorry Ive been a stranger. Im still working out consistently![]()
Im still at 149 since last week need 4 more to go! Just need more cardio to burn last of fat and then tone , tone tone!
KyM, how are you? and welcome
I Love Amazon ,that's where I get my reviews too. Keep Shredding , it does work . I lost 22 pounds last year on shred alone but gained it in winter. I lost it again thank god. 172 in March now 149. I don't do shred anymore I work out to truble zones and BFBM. It kicks butt. You'll get stronger and will be there in no time. take my word. I also do Jackie Warner . Its more for toning but before we get into to too much toning we have to incorporate cardio to burn fat. The muscle is under there![]()
Goodluck and do not quit,TTYL
Eve
Good morning all,
Just checking in. Took the day off from all exercise yesterday. I had a tight hamstring and didn't want to pull anything. Feel OK today, so I am back at it today.
Slim: Congrats on the upcoming wedding (can't remember if I told you that before). What a wonderful, stressful time!!
Roz: The Shred is a little over 600 cal per DVD; that makes each section a little more than 200. If you log as calisthenics, you will get a pretty accurate number. I have never read anything that breaks each section down any further than that.
Eve: Welcome back. I, too, love Amazon. The reviews give me a starting point when making purchases.
Last: I weigh daily, but only count my Friday weight. The daily weighing keeps me honest with myself. I used to log every morsel that went into my mouth. At this point, I don't log as much. If I start to gain or get out of control, I will go back to measuring, weighing, and logging. For now, I am comfortable with what I am doing and I am having results.
Well, I am off to start the day. I have to workout today. I keep sitting at 145 and really want to break the 140 limit; so, I better get at it. May try to shred today. Since its been awhile I should be stronger.
Someone asked about the pushups. I can almost do 1 boy pushup. I can get about half-way down and back up. Upper body strength has never been my strong point, so I keep working at it. My daughter was ragging at me yesterday that I need to add weight training to my regimen. Maybe next semester, but not during a summer session.
Talk to you all later. Go gettum ladies.
J-mom
I just got Jillian's BFBM and trouble zones but I just have not had a chance to even check them out. J-mom said they were pretty hard. I am still struggling with my motivation so I have decided that this will be my last week of slacking, not packing lunch-etc! I usually weigh everyday but only count my Friday also.
The weather is improving-it may actually be 80 degrees here tomorrow
and I have a lot of yard work to catch up on and we have a lot of baseball tomorrow and Friday.
So its official-I am starting all over again on Monday. You guys just keep at it every day- I swear I will be there again!!!
Ok, so.... L1 D7 so far. Only 3 more days of L1 and onto 2. Only 23 days of the shred left before I can move onto Jilllians BfBM and No trouble zones.
Wyogirl~ I myself am going to buy her two other dvds but i told myself not to until i finish the shred. I dont want to put too much challenge in front of me until ive completed the one ive started. Did you do the shred all the way through? I would recommend trying that first bc its known to get you prepared for BFBM. Her other dvds are extremely hard and longer. I just dont want you to get discouraged and get less motivated.
Keep in there.
Jehzi~ I think Ill just weigh myself every 10 days bc i dont want to get bummed out if the scale isnt moving. I hear when you are down to your last couple lbs the scale can move up with muscle weight. lol....i dont know if i can handle that yet bc i am so determined to see a lesser number. I know.....minds are warped.
I have to start measuring myself instead of weighing.
Eve~ Sorry i almost forgot you there. Im doing great and thanks for asking. Good job on the weight lose. I hope i can tell my story of losing all my baby weight which is just 6-5 more lbs. Since Im pretty much at my ideal weight i am not seeing the number go down as fast as others but i am going to measure myself to see if im losing inches. Hope to hear all your progress and let me know how BFBM is bc thats my next challenge after my shred. ![]()
Whats up ladies? ![]()
I just finished Tony Horton's plyometrics. wow... I guess I'm in better condition than i thought
1hr . i got through it !Not as hard as my hubby said. Its all about motivation and never giving up. Our bodies are stronger than we think... we push babies out don't we?
Speaking about babies mine turned 11 today
. My middle child will be 16 soon also
Then my oldest, 18 in Feb. Where did the time go??????????????????![]()
P.S 148pounds today 3 more pounds to go... then I have to maintain and tone some more.
No pain no gain!
Eve
Hi Everyone,
I started the 30 Day Shred on Friday and took my measurements and photos at start. I did it for three days, had an intense dance class on the fourth, and took yesterday off due to illness.
My question is, is anyone having success doing the Shred four or five days a week? Is it really important to do it for 30 consecutive days (obviously this is optimal, but wondering if 4-5 days produces results?)
thanks and keep up the great work!
Hi Ladies! Well, I finally got a measuring tool and measured myself. I wish I had measured myself 8 days ago bc I would be able to know if I lost a little. Anyway, I read that you should measure yourself no more than every 2-4 weeks at a time so I guess Ill start measuring myself now. Here are my measurements...
Bust~ 34 1/2 inch
Arms~ 10 inch
Waist~ 29 inch (measuring an inch above my belly button)
Butt~ 37 inch
Thigh~ 22 inch
Did anyone notice more change in their body when they went from Level 1 to Level 2 ?
Green eyed~ I myself have started the 30 day shred. I started 8 days ago. Good luck and keep us posted as well as I will. If you really want success stories just go to Amazon dvd reviews plus skim through this site as well. Many ppl love Jillians workouts and have had great results. We just must be patient and consistent with the workouts. Good luck.
Hi ladies,
Last 5: Yes, I'm planning a wedding for next June/July but I really want to get a placed book and out of the way so I can concentrate on other things going on in my life...like working out again! lol. I can't really remember when I started noticing changes but I probably documented it in my journal someplace. You can "buddy" me and read my progress if you wish.
Amazon is a great motivator. When I was doing the shred I would go on amazon every week to keep myself motivated. There are such good reviews there.
J-mom: thanks! it is an exciting and a little stressful time for sure.
Wyogirl: I would love to get BFBM too but I have too many other dvds that I need to get thru and finish first but I am still keeping my eye on that one.
Eve: wow, you amaze and motivate me girl. Plyometrics in the P90X is no joke. I found it tough and had to stop half way thru. You're conditioning is excellent. I will hopefully be there someday too lol.
Greeneye: I found that when I took breaks my body really responded better than trying to do the shred consecutively. I think taking a break after a few days is a good thing but do what works best for you. I think Jillian said in one of her books that you should take breaks.
Thank you. It hasnt been easy. I too was shocked when i got through it![]()
I am going to try to do the whole p90x . Except for back and arms . My arms are the thinnest part of my body they are already toned. Its those darn thighs and butt i want to tone not to mention my little pooch . The baby gift that keeps on giving. My babies are all over 11 LOL![]()
Wish me luck ladies. I've never worked out so hard in my life.
Eve
Ladies, Im having a moment. Why am I getting frustrated? Its only Day 8 and I have been eating so good....so why wont the scale budge 1 lb? Im trying to remind myself that Im building muscle but so many ppl say that they have lost 2 lbs in their first week doing the shred.
I am in no means stopping my work out but i just feel dumpy tonight. ![]()
It happens KyM, don't be so hard on yourself. How often are you weighing yourself?
The same thing happened to me in the beginning. I was158 and stuck there . I basically weighed myself everyday and nothing . I was taking in only 1200 calories and working out like crazy and nothing. I said enough because I was getting frustrated. I understand it makes you feel so discouraged. I told my daughter to hide the scale and only give it to me once a week .Every Friday. Then i just did my thing and when I finally weighed in I had lost 2 pounds. It has worked for fine for me so far .
When do you weigh yourself? Make sure its in the morning after you have used the bathroom and on an empty stomach. I usually wait an hour after that because I have bad circulation, retain water .I wake up a little swollen it alaway adds like 2 pounds it drives me crazy ten I take abreather and forget about it.
They also said somewhere not to focus on numbers. I know its not easy.
If your clothes fit loser and you can get through your workouts with ease and are eating right you are doing the right thing. I'm sure you have noticed some changes in your body already so when you weigh yourself and nothing has changed it becomes confusing. Just trust yourself and continue doing what you are doing. You know yourself better than the scale does.
Eve
can someonne tell me how to get this dvd? can i download it from somewhere??
i am presently in indonesia and i dont think i can buy it here...
Hi ladies! Just checking in - seems to be a weekly thing these days, I have been VERY busy!
Today is my one-month weigh in, and I have lost (DRUMROLL!!) 14.6lbs!! I still have another 30 to go, but it feels GREAT to get that much off!! Woohoo! ::dances::
I have started to alternate my routines and take days off from walking. My feet were getting really marked up and gnarled from the blisters/recovering blisters/callouses. I am in seeeeeerious need of a pedicure. I'm going to save that reward for just before auditions!
I am walking on alternating mornings now, and supplementing with either the Shred or this dancing DVD that I got for fun. I really love that I am losing weight but love it more that I am actually ENJOYING the process. It'll make the upkeep that much simpler!
I did have a slightly rough week this week, though, with my best friend. I have made a lot of life changes stemming from starting on this site and talking with all of you. My friend has apparently taken the fact that I gave up alcohol (I rarely drank anyway, and it's just not worth the calorie intake) and that I now consume whole wheat/whole grain pastas/breads/tortillas (when I consume such things...the only thing I eat with any regularity that is of that nature is a whole grain English muffin with breakfast) as some sort of judgement upon her lifestyle.
I never said that she needed to make these sorts of changes...I merely told her the ingredients to a recipe I had made, and she went off on me for using a whole wheat tortilla! She also refuses to weigh herself, insisting that she can tell that she has lost weight by how she feels.
Whatever works for her. I'm not here to judge.
Keep working hard, ladies! You are doing marvelously!
And Last 5, have you tried increasing your water intake? Sometimes, I find that if I do not drink enough water when I am working out, I will actually stop losing weight.
Original Post by dellli:
can someonne tell me how to get this dvd? can i download it from somewhere??
It's on youtube.
Slimfit - Thank you, I think the reassurance that you should take breaks will keep me motivated, and not feeling like I've fallen off the proverbial wagon.
Last 5 - thank you for the encouragement. Glad you're keeping us posted on your progress, we need to hear it!
dellli - the workouts are on youtube.com! Each level is broken up into 3 segments, just because of the length. You aren't supposed to stop in between, so maybe have them loaded and ready to go in different windows?
dacis - FOURTEEN POUNDS! tell us exactly how you've succeeded. How many cals per day, how many off-days from your diet? Did you do the shred every day for 30 days (I know you said you just recently have begun alternating w/ dancing and walking)? How many pounds were your weights? any other advice? Congratulations. I'd be psyched to achieve half that.
Eve~ Thanks for the mental support.
I just hear these wonderful stories about girls losing weight at a rate of 2lbs per week w/o even eating all that healthy and i get aggravated considering that Im really trying and have little results yet. Im ok today though...lol.... Fat comes off slow and i have to just workout everyday for my 30 day challenge. I didnt want to weigh myself until after my first 10 days but i had the urge to and stepped on that dang scale to see that it hadn't budged. I am now determined to put it away also until the next level is done. I do weigh myself in the morning right after i use the bathroom. Sorry to hear about your bad circulation....water retainment sucks...all women experience it but maybe not at that level. eh.
Delli~ Yes, you can get it on Youtube.com . I dont know if you can have websites such as Amazon ship it to you without paying out the butt for it but look into it.
dacis~ Your progress inspires me. Congrats! Just a question....when you do the shred work out, do you just do that as your only workout for the day and still see progress? Im pretty active all day and chase after a 11mth old plus waitress. So, i just want to make sure that I can still have the chance of losing weight by just doing the shred in the morning and eating healthy. As for your friend.....she might be a great friend but maybe not the best support. You may be sticking to your routine and have more determination which is resulting in great success. She may not be sticking to her weight loss resolution and gets a little jealous with you making life changes that you stick to. I would either try to encourage her more and more or just keep my recipes and progress to myself if i were you
I did increase my water intake. How much do you drink? I know its suppose to be about 64 oz a day but i may only drink a little over half of that.
One more day on L1 and I can move onto L2. Im psyched but scared. How does everyone feel about L2? Fill me in......
