Shrinking buns & inner thighs...? Best workouts?

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone. So I'm now maintaining my weight, and I'm really happy with my weight loss, but I'd like to focus more on building more lean muscle - and shrinking my butt and inner thighs. Specificially, my butt. I really don't like it. I heard that squats, stair climbing and lunges all work well to shrink it - is that true?

I also am at a loss at how to go about taming the inner thigh area.

I'm pretty sure that it's in my genes to store fat in these areas...but I want to atleast try to shrink them.

Also, do I have to lose weight in order to shrink these areas? Or can I just focus on tightening them up?

You have to lose fat in order to shrink those areas. If you are able to gain muscle, then you can lose fat and still be at the same weight. This allows you to eat the same amount of food, have a decent metabolism, open doors for yourself, etc. Strength is good!

It is difficult to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, usually you have to pick one goal. However, a beginner can usually make good gains no matter what else they are doing. I would recommend that you eat at maintenance, and start a good strength training program. After you have gotten stronger you can look at the results and then decide how you want to proceed. You might decide to try to drop a little fat, or you might get hooked and decide to put on a little more muscle.

Do a little research and pick a good beginner strength program. If you are squatting and deadlifting a decent amount of weight, you will be working those inner thighs.

What Solid said- but if you want to know exercises that will firm up the muscles for inner thighs and rear there are a few

Squats of course are great for the entire body.  For a nice lifted rear Bulgarian Split Squats are awesome, and then for a good thigh workout the side lunge  Another great leg and butt workout are step ups  the secret to good step ups is to use the leg on the bench/ stair / box to lift yourself up vs pushing with the grounded foot.  Most of the youtubes on how to do these aren't very good most use the grounded leg.

Be sure to use weights that are challenging enough to only be able to do 8 - 12 reps each side.   body weight may be a good starting point

Squats make my butt look BIG , but I like it that way.

who wants small bunsss??

I used to have big buns, now I have shapely buns.  I don't know if its the size but how they are shaped - sure they are still larger than I'd like I have some fat that still needs to go, but they sure look a lot better now being "lifted" vs just fat and flat

Run !

BTW the "nude" is in a fairly tame click through (just some rather fantastic looking bottoms).
