Hey all i was wondering if anyone wears a sweat suit when they work out. and does it really help you lose weight faster. I was wondering cause i see people all the time at the track wearing them and i would like to know if they really work.   Thanks

It works to get you really, really dehydrated, and consequently makes your fat burning metabolism less efficient. So yes, they do work, but the effect is the opposite of what's intended - you burn less fat while using one.

That makes sence but what about the claim of keeping your muscles warm i dont know thats what i read. but with the info you gave me i wont be buying one.

Plus they make you so hot and uncomfortable! I find that when I'm wearing too many clothes I actually end up going much slower and thus burning fewer calories.

ok.  I understand, agree with, and expect you (and me) to follow melkor's advice.  he seems like a pretty knowledgable and fairly friendly dude :)

BUT, I find that sweatsuits are really helpful at keeping an injury warm while working out.  I like to wear plastic shorts to keep my mean old hips warm.  they help to loosen my muscles there a little faster than not wearing them.  I know when I can push through a pain and when I need to back off (good hurts vs. bad hurts) but that comes through intensely attending to my body and how I work within it.
