You can burn a ton of calories on both machines. However, I prefer the elliptical as I have bad knees. I destroyed my cartilage in one knee running bleachers and my ortho docs told me to never set foot on a stair climber again. I can go faster on the elliptical but work my thighs harder on the stairclimber.
