What's your Non Scale Victory ( Brag away )
Melkor "Hey, crow away - we're all due a little brag time now and then. ( Which reminds me, I should change out the runner recruitment drive with something new, so if anyone want to have a brag thread up top, make one ;) )"
So here we go.
Since starting weight lifting vs doing cardio all the time - all though I've gained weight due to poor eating and stress and stuff I've managed to drop back from a size 14 to a 12 and the 12s are getting baggier every day.
So what is your personal achievement that you want to share!! Brag it up folks!!
Reason: Stickied for well-deserved pat on the back to everyone ;)
Ran a personal best at my 5K race this morning - 24m56s!
Mine's a little catty, but I don't care. I love seeing someone skinny and who looks like she's in pretty good shape use a machine before me, then when I get on I have to double the weight.
I've (almost *grin*) entirely stopped drinking soda!! It's actually gotten to the point that when I open one to drink, I almost gag because it's actually too sweet for me!!!
Is that not cool?? For someone who used to drink six cans (minimum) of soda per day to go to going several days between colas is a major achievement, in my book at least!!!
When we go to the gym together, I can run further, faster and longer than my boyfriend :D
I'm up to being able to run 12 minutes of my 30-35 minute walks, and last night I was able to do 2 sets of 10 reps of a weight lift I couldn't do at all a week and a half ago. I feel strong!
I ran 10 miles around the lake this morning! Yeah me!
Mokeskalo - That rocks!!
I ran a 10K Race this morning. Started running in February. Can't believe that back then, I could only run 30 seconds without feeling like I would pass out. I feel great & will start training for a half marathon tomorrow!
Go! Mokeskalo Go!
I'm 47 years old but I get beeped at when I run!!
Haven't got any exercise brags because I've been poorly for the last 10 days, but I bought some clothes this weekend and tops I picked up were too big! Back in the medium range!
Wow-congrats everyone! Can't wait to get into some haevy weight weights!
My most amazing thing is watching the transformation of my back side-there is definite definition between my butt and thighs-it is wild to watch the cahnges!!
Also-in just under a month of lifting-I see that the appearance of cellulite is diminishing
. That is really cool.
Yesterday-37 mile bike ride-furthest ever-made it up a huge gradual hill in my town with the best view ever!! Also way cool
!!
Have a great day everyone.
I have ALMOST beaten shin splints I developed after trying to do too much running too soon!
AND i've cut DOWN on the running, and started doing more weights (deadlifting/lunging) and more really short high intensity aerobics sessions... and guess what? For the first time ever, since I started exercising, I have shaved 4 minutes off my 5k time - taking me from 28mins to 24mins. Proof just doing lots of running was getting my speed absolutely nowhere!

haha. I'm TERRIBLE with this. I'm not really competitive with my friends.. but for some reason with random strangers, I can't help myself!
last year at this time i was wearing a size 26, went shopping this weekend and got into a size 16 dress- yay me!
I'm a little late to the party but I have two:
cholesterol 190 from 280
bp average 115/75 from 135/85
Today while doing the New Rules of Lifting for women stage 4 workout B "widegrip deadlift from box" one of the "boys" complimented me on my form!!
When I started weight lifting I could barely manage 7 reps on the bench press with 10kg (22lb) . Six weeks later I can do 7 reps with 15kg (33lb)! I like getting strong
!
Finally got some oblique definition! Three weeks of disgusting whey protein and ab pain! I'm going to use my profile pic as a before, and this is definitely one of the afters:

I think I look great! Still a little skinny though... I guess everything comes in time. :]
I lift at my college's gym, which is filled with guys who used to smirk at my skinny arms and obvious inexperience at weight lifting. Now they have to take weights off after I'm finished with the leg press!!
After ten weeks of eating more calories of the right types of foods, hitting the weights harder, and doing HIIT cardio, my bodyfat has dropped 7% (19% down to 12%) despite the fact that my scale weight has gone up 15 pounds. That means that I have put on 15 pounds of muscle in 2 1/2 months. My waist is also 2 inches smaller (38 down to 36).
My strength gains have also gone up a lot. I have put over 50 pounds on lifts like benchpress ( 250 up to 305) deadlift (340 up to 400) and clean and press (155 up to 210). I continue to get stronger as well. I think one of the reasons is due to sprinting in my HIIT sessions. Apparently, sprinting is a great way to release the HGH (Human Growth Hormone) in your body and this helps to lead to better strength gains overall.
