Just got a Wii Fit. Wondering if anyone knows if the aerobics and strength or yoga is really a good workout.  Any tips, advice, comments?

Thanks!

Fitness games for Wii.

Wii Fit
Fitness Coach
Summer Atheletes
Outdoor Challenge
DDR
Smart Moves great if you have young ones.  Easy to use and it is fast paced.  My grandkids favourite game.

There may be more, but these are the ones that I know of.

Thanks for the list! I will have to look into some of the other games.

I totally agree with you guys! Something is better than nothing.  I set up my profile this morning and I am going to work out tonite with the Wii fit.  I think I may also look into some of the other games, etc.

PS. I found risers for the balance board on amazon.com today. So this could help up the intensity.

If the Wii Fit isn't a good workout then I guess th 15 pounds I lost in the last month and a half is just water weight!

The rhythm boxing is no joke!  Once you unluck the advance version be prepared.  I am hoping to add some ankle and wrist weights to it but by itself I am a hot sweaty mess.  I try to do the boxing for 3-10 min intervals. And the Supa hula hoops leaves me drenched in sweat and trying to catch my breath.  Those two stupid girls who throw the hula hoops at me..grrr! The supa hula hoops has 10 min high paced intervals.  I do 2 sessions of this.  I like the yoga as a warm up stretch of my body my body.  I then fowllow with 2 Advance Steps to get the heart pumping.  Then its 2 sessions of hula.  Then 3 sessions of Boxing.  Then Ia m dead tired and sleep like a rock!

If you half ass it...well then yes don't expect a workout.  If you need a gym to feel like you accomplished something, then yes the Wii Fit will not work for you.  If you are already in shape then yeah it might be fun but not give you a great work out.  But I am thrilled with my purchase and I will son add My Fitness Coach for some variety.

I got the Wii Fit on release day in the UK. To be honest, I don't use it very often, but when I do use it, I really enjoy it. My favourites are the step aerobics and the boxing. I do the hula hooping too, but this makes my stomach hurt! I guess that means it's working!!

Once you've unlocked the advanced free step, you can do the exercise for 30 mins following the speaker in the remote, so you can turn the tv back on and watch whatever you want. I started watching DVDs, normally a tv box set where the episodes are about 45 mins... I will do the stepping for the 30 mins have a break whilst the 1st one finishes and the start again for a 2nd episode then have a rest whilst that one finishes. Because I'm watching something that I find interesting, the time flies. ALSO it is a great way to get you up to (or at least nearer) the 10,000 steps mark for the day. I can do over 3,000 steps in 30 mins on the Wii Fit and since my general steps for a lazy day are at about 3,500-4,000 doing this exercise for the hour would bump me up to the recommended amount.

One thing I do find a little annoying is that if you have only a minor weight reduction, it will tell you that your weight will fluctuate 2.2 lbs in the day (or something along those lines, it isn't overly encouraging but truthful). However if your weight increases only very slightly, it will ask you to comment on your weight gain!

Thanks.  Yes, I really like the Wii fit since I have been using it and unlocking the exercises.  I have yet unlock the step exercise you mentioned.  Thanks for your reponse.

My fitness coach, Jillian Michaels 2010, Active More Workouts, are the best.

I got my boyfriend a wii for christmas and I can't wait to give it to him! The video store near me has games so I think I'll rent the "fit" or other games first before I spend money on them if they suck. But it sounds like fun to me!
