Has anyone used the wii fit for their exercise routine?  If so have you had any success using it and what games do you feel were the best.

I use the Wii Fit to supplement my fitness routine.  If you're new to fitness, then its a really good place to start.  I would suggest also purchasing the EA Sports Wii Active.  It allows your arm and leg movements to also be measured.

The Wii Fit itself I would recommend the Strength, Yoga, and Balance exercises.  They are really good.  You need to spend at least an hour with it though, to get a decent work out.    Remember, it helps if you also do some sort of cardio in addition to Wii Fit.  Walking, Jogging, Swimming, etc.

I use my WiiFit once a week for fun, my weekly regime is weights mon, cardio tue, repeated until sunday. Sunday is my recovery day but I still love to throw on the WiiFit and just do everything. Start with yoga, then power through every workout there is on longest setting and at the end of it all, im sweating hardcore (no aircon lol). I love to slowdown with there dance thing a couple times but as a hardcore DDR fan, I usually move to that afterwards.

WiiFit is awesome and I honestly believe that if you used it everyday for 1.5hours and also did 30 minutes of intermediate cardio as well you could easily be fit and strong.

I use EA Sports Active for the Wii instead of Wii Fit.  It can be used with the Balance Board, but you don't need it.  You DO need a numchuck though, though most Wiis come with one now.  I like it because it gets my heart rate up and has me sweating and the workouts are fairly short (~30 minutes).  It also comes with a resistance band for strength training.  I'm currently doing the 30 Day Challenge, which has you work out two days, then have a rest day, rinse and repeat for 30 days.  Every day, the exercise is a little different and increases in difficulty.  Each day's workout basically has 15-20 exercises, with very little down-time between exercises.  I've heard complaints about the Wii Fit that after every exercise, you have to click through to select the next one.  With EA Sports Active, you don't have to do that.  You can also create your own workouts and use one of their MANY choices (focus on lower body, upper body, cardio, dance, etc).  My only complaint is that the EA Sports Active doesn't seem to have a lot of ab work, but I heard the newest version of the game (EA Sports Active: More Workouts or something like that) does include more ab work.

According to Xplay the wii fit and EA SPorts Active are good workouts but the best is The Biggest Loser for the Wii. It gets your heart rate up the most. I have used the Wii fit and am just starting to use The Biggest Loser.

Hi,

Which is the best game to get if you are just interested in strength training?  I do not need anything that is going to get my heart rate up because I do more than enough cardio 6x a week but I have yet to start the dreaded strength training.

Thanks!

I'm not sure which one would be best, but I do know that the wii fit has some good strength training exercises that can be combined with the yoga.

I have the Wii fit Plus which adds more routines to it. I have managed to unlock the island bike ride which makes you jog on the board until you get all of the flags, I have not done it yet, but did use the Advance ride and jogged 6.83 miles looking for the last two flags! It had me sweating like I was at the gym. I am starting a spin class today so I will see how sore I am after that before I commit to the island ride. I do like the Wii fit plus but feel like the pauses in between are too many trying to set up the next exercise. Wish you could just go through them faster. I did just get it for Christmas so I need to get to higher levels probably.

I've never owned the first Wii Fit but Wii fit plus has a "My Routine" section where you can select whatever workouts you want to do in whatever order you want.

I use EA Active as opposed to Wii fit.

I decided on it because it was cheaper and newer than Wii fit. My boyfriend also wanted the EA active more for some reason or other and anything I could do to motivate him was a bonus.

I use it as my workout tool of choice. I LOATHE exercising in public, so being able to get sort-of personal assistance to help me through exercising (correct ways of holding yourself) and ways to help me intensify what I'm doing (all via the virtual coach) is a real neat bonus compared to the hum-drum of workout videos.

It has many pre-set workouts which are fun to go through, and that's what keeps me coming back. The more I use it, the higher of difficulty I feel I can do workout-wise, and it always has new stuff for me to try (so far, and I've been using it for over a month now).

I use the running in the wintertime because it's too cold to run outside. I think the best games for getting a workout are the free run, the free step, obstacle course, and the strength training. I usually do some of the yoga before I strength train just to warm up and stretch. If I would just stick to a routine, I'm sure I would see results!
