Has anyone else got the wii fit?

What do you think about it?

I quite like it, it keeps check of your BMI, weight etc. (even though your mii does blow up in size... or is that just me?)

Anyone else got any thoughts on it?

So! My husband got me Wii Fit on the 21st.. release day.. with no preorder. I was really impressed. Well except for the fact that he knows the guy who owns our local new-used-buy-and-sell store and so he contacted my husband to let me know they were getting a couple copies.

What I had wanted to say is it's a great "game"! I opened it on Wednesday just as soon as he brought it home and hopped on for about 45 minutes. I went through every exercise available, some more than others to feel out what I really liked and what I needed to work on. I was suprised at how acurate the weight/bmi was.. even on carpet! At this point it sure beats my possessed bathroom scale. I got on again last night for anothe 45 minutes.. this time I added on 2 of the long distance jogs and one of the 'round the island jogs. Now.. I hate running, but this was actually kind of fun!

I don't know if it's actually Fit that helped me.. but I've been in a bit of a weight loss rut for the past month going between 163-162. When I got on the balance board the first time, it said I was at 163. When I went to start up yesterday it told me I was 161! So.. maybe it's just that my body was ready to lose weight and just extremely bored of my stationary bike.. which is the only thing I really use.

I like that it helps to encorporate your entire body. After 2 days I certainly feel like I've been working out harder than before! My muslces are sore.. but not the OMG I'm dying sort of sore. It feels good and I'm really excited. This is one "game" that will never get sold off!

My sister this.  I'm so excited to try it!!

please delete all my posts on Calorie Count.

I don't own the Wii myself ... yet!  It is so on my list of things to get!  Lol.  One of my best friends has one though.  And he got Wii Fit and I LOVE IT!  Although I HATE how my mii blew up like a marshmellow!!!  Arg!  Although I'm a little disappointed in the weight it gave me.  It was 10 lbs more than what my scale said!  So that was frustrating!  So once I get my own, I'll be going by that weight I suppose.  Lol.

I do wish there was a way to track the calories burned.  But I guess the fact that it's way fun totally compensates for it!

love it!  the weight thing is accurate. I made the mistake of weighing myself right after dinner - silly me, and was chided for gaining 1.1 lbs since last night at 10:21 pm. (I was out late so I did my workout when I got home). it  grilled me as to what I thought the problem might be & presented a list of possible self-inflicted problems.  My Wii cares as much about every pound as I do LOL.  Yesterday when I weighed in I was down 1.5 lbs from the previous day. Before I had to time to celebrate, it pointed out that an avg person's weight can fluctuate as much as 2lbs a day. keeping me humble.  I love all of it especially the balance and aerobic games (hula hoops YEA! Soccer (boo. I suck at soccer!).  I break a good sweat every day. Wish it would tell me how many calories I burned.  It seems to know everything else.

OMG...I think it is amazing.  My kids love it, too.  I do my workouts usually in the morning, while my kids are at school, and husband is at work.  Then after supper, we all go and do Wii Fit for 30 minutes each.....we compete to see who can do better than the other! My twelve year old and my husband are sooo competitive! They say they are going to whip themselves into shape just trying to beat each others score.  Today my legs were so sore from the strength training & yoga combinations I could barely walk! LOL
So if anything, we are spending family time together having fun & maybe helping each other get into shape!

I am so in love with it!

Everything nintendo does is so cute and I am a lover of cute things!

Double posting! Ok.. so it seems that everyone is interested in the calories burned while playing Wii Fit.. Me too!

I managed to come across this http://www.freedomyears.com/tabid/82/itemid/1 883/Does-Wii-Fit-the-Bill--We-Put-the-Latest- Exercise.aspx  I don't know if it will help anyone.

It talks about a one Sabina Astarita comparing her regular work out to a work out with the Wii Fit using a monitor to measure peak and average heart rate, as well as calculate calories burned during 20 minute work out sessions. It has the calories burned for each "workout" towards the bottom of the article.

Hope this helped!

EDIT: It doesn't have -all- of the work outs available on Wii Fit, but it might give you a good idea of what you're looking for. Also my husband was telling me he had read somewhere that Wii Fit burns up to 300~ calories per documented hour assuming you go through the exercises one by one. I imagine if you do more cardio versus yoga you'd have a better burn rate.. but that's just my guess. I also plugged in info under the Activity Log here to get a feel for how much I was burning. It seems about right on.. So I'm just going to go with the idea that every 15 minutes is approximately 75 calories burned. I definately could burn more with my stationary.. but I'm having fun! I'll probably find a way to incorporate both throughout the week.

Lots of great info here. My kids are getting me the WII fit for Mothers day. First we have to find one though. They gave me the dvd that shows all the things that it has and I am looking forward to trying it. We bought DDR for the WII and use it almost everyday so I am hoping to use DDR and WII fit along with my walking everyday.
Some friends of mine have it so when we had a get together at their house we all took turns on the wii fit. I'm happy to say I was the only one of them to score a BMI in the normal range (although at the very top of the normal range lol).  I tried the  balance exercises and I did better than I thought.  Everyone got a good laugh out of watching my balance "dot" go all over the place in some of the balance exercises.  I tried some of the strength training and my side is really sore as I don't normal use that muscle much.  The running was my favorite although it was a lot lot easier than actually running outside.  My legs were a bit sore from running in place as it uses different muscles than real running.

I found one over the weekend and I love it. I do agree that it would be nicer if you could combine exercises, especially in Yoga, but besides that I think it is great. I had a little bit of trouble weighing myself on carpet, mainly because while my carpet is not thick, it has padding underneath, so I had to add the feet extensions. I have not tried all of the exercises yet, but I do know that I was sore the day after I tried the lunges.

I'm really having fun with it, although the fatness of my Mii is kind of sad.

I don't think it's that accurate on carpet, but I'm not really going to hold that as a flaw, I mean I wouldn't really expect a scale to be too accurate on my carpet.  I'm thinking of getting a 3 x 5 plank to put it on.  I figure that should be large enough to make it steady.  My only worry is that the wood will make all the stepping on and off the balance board annoying (you know, stepping on the edge of the wood by accident).

I think the best is the boxing.  My arms are really starting to hurt from the workout.  I don't know if that's do to the Wii Fit or to my nerdy physique.  The nunchuk cord is really starting to bug me, so I ordered a wireless nunchuk adapter, I'll let you know if it's worth the extra money.  The sad bit is: Not Yet Shipped: 1 item - delivery estimate: July 2, 2008 - July 18, 2008.  Yep, shipping in 3-5 weeks.  <kicks dirt>  Shucks.

I'm in the same boat with everyone else about the calorie counts.  The Wii doesn't have to tell you what they are, but Nintendo should have a list of general counts on the site or something.

its not just you.  my husband's bmi came up as obese, and his mii got really big, i mean really, really big

Just to say, I rate wii fit and wii sports as a way to get into fitness. I have had my wii fit for 5 weeks now and I have lost 13lbs since. I have been healthy eating in the mix, but I have a routine now with wii fit that I do my wii fit every morning before breakfast. I now only do hulahoops for 15mins and steps for 15 mins. I certainly work up a sweat doing the hoops. So that is my 30mins of exercise on there.

I now add wii sports in there and do 10 mins working the bags on boxing, my record now being 44 bags I smash down in the allotted time, then I do 15mins of boxing in the ring, which now I am unbeatable. If I got strength left I put on 1lb wrist weights to enhance the effect whilst boxing.

Now, the biggest change. Since doing wii fit and boxing combined, I have started adding in more activities. I now aim for my hour on wii in the mornings, plus I set myself another mission for the day. Whether that will be an hour + good old hard housework, or playing footie or rounders or trampolining with the kiddies, or even a long walk.

Wii machine has DEFINATELY enhanced my fitness and combining it with the weight loss I have more energy than I have had for years and my waist and butt is shrinking!!

You HAVE to stay disaplined and focused, and gradually increase the exercise you do for maximum benefit. Doing so much activity allows for more "treats" so occassionally I eat out and I still have a takeaway once a week. I find allowing that treat a week helps me to stay focused for the week ahead.

I do 30 minutes of wii in the morning (logged, it takes about 45-50 depending on how speedy I am).  I do 20 minutes of strength training and around 10-13 of aerobics afterwards.

When I get home I do yoga for however long it takes.  I do every pose except the ones without the balance board and then play balance games.  I have gotten awesome at the soccer game.  First time I did it I got 12.  Now I'm getting 200!  The hubby says I cheat because I don't lean like they do on the TV but I think he's just jealous that I'm awesome!  Or something.

Haven't read all the replies yet, but we got the Wii Fit the day it came out.  so far I've logged over 5 hours on it (in about a week).  it's definitely a lot of fun, but I don't think it's going to take the place of my weight training and my cardio workout at the gym.  But the Yoga and the strength exercises.

The Aerobic workouts, aren't really that, except maybe I suppose the Hula Hoop is pretty entertaining to watch.

I enjoy getting it out every morning and tracking to see where my weight and BMI is.  Although, then it makes me mad, because it gives me a Wii Fit age of MUCH older.

And it mentions working out with a friend, but there is no way to be multiplayer, except on the 2 player run.

It's also a lot of fun for my 4 year old, who doesn't really understand that it's a "fitness" game, but rather just enjoys playing along.  I think it is good for him, because it sort of steps him into the world of fitness, while making it a little fun.

I'm definitely a Wii Fit fan, however, i still don't think it should take the place of a gym membership.  But for those people who were doing nothing before, it certainly can't hurt!

Oh yeah, when is CC going to add it as an activity. :)

I agree with you stacy. It is not 2 player like it claims to be. That part is a bit misleading.

I love my Wii fit! Im in the UK - so only got it about 5 weeks ago...but I love it! I was really struggling with my weight - going to the gym 3 days a week, eating right...even prescribed reductil by the doctor - nothing....

5 weeks of Wii fit joy later and im 8lbs lighter - still eating the same!
