Why do women wear such tight clothes at the gym?
I see tiny tight booty shorts that cut directly under the cup of the butt, spandex, yoga pants where you could see major camel toe. So many of them do it, so there has to be a reason in the universal female mind.
Man, my heart is already beating fast from lifting, then the tight pants about throw me into a full blown heart attack. One women today had tight booty shorts on, and wore an excess of perfume. The perfume was one of the best scents I've ever smelled and it had to have some type of pheromones in it because I had to leave the weight room for a moment to collect myself. Wow...
Guys wear loose clothing from the waist down like baggy shorts, but they do have a tendency to wear muscle shirts, no matter how skinny they are they wear muscle shirts, or shirt a size too small.
There are far more male posers at my gym than women but hey I dont mind at all you can't beat a nice bit of eye candy with a good body.
I think you need to take a cold shower next time that woman is about lol ;)
I don't know if necessarily ALL of them (sometimes me) do it so that others will look at them. I know some are like that but that's how they are 100% of the time so why should they be expected to adopt a different style/personality just because they are working out.
I agree with what amethystgirl said a little bit because cute clothes make me want to do stuff. If I buy a cute dress I want somewhere to wear it too which makes me more likely to go do something because what I'll be wearing makes me feel good. Same applies for workout clothing. If someone likes to wear stylish workout clothes that makes them feel like they look good then I don't see why it would be a problem.
People are going to look at you no matter what so what is wrong with dressing in a way that shows you care what they see?
I wear spandex, but put on basketball shorts over it. Guys need major support in that area when running and jumping to prevent ball trauma. There is always an option of not wearing tight clothing that makes your ass look goddess like, and attracts male attention. Especially see through yoga pants. Wow!
It seems to a gender norm and sometimes cultural norm, girls can wear tight pants while guys can not, for a guy there is a lot to lose by wearing tight pants since size is such a concern for men. In some countries men wear speedos at the beach while American men will not.
Muscle shirts are preferred because of the pump. After and while working out it is nice to see your muscles pumped, then again some guys have arms so big that t-shirts would just be tight and uncomfortable.
Can't women just a wear t-shirt that reads "you can look but don't stare" when wearing tight yoga pants? Of course there will always be that one old creeper that leers at butts and crotches, and sniffs the seat of the abductor machine.

(1) Ok, I like looking at women with tight butts.
(2) Hmmmmmmmm....what are women wearing that would highlight their crotch outline? That seems a bit much to me.
(3) What??????!!!! Meh, bleh, and Argggggggggggggggggg!
We're not pieces of meat for you to be leering at... this is why some many guys prefer to run marathons - they are too scared of going to the gym and being judged by all those meat head women.
not srs, mire away

But seriously? I'm not into anyone being looked at like they are a piece of meat which is why if the hot guys at my gym that work out everyday can wear a fitted sleeveless tee that shoes off their muscles, I can wear yoga pants because they make me feel good, no?

Call me crazy, but super tight muscle shirts on big beefy guys is such a turn-off.. I like the casual but fitted REI- outdoor sports-y look on a guy. Think lightweight north face running shirt- Hot!
I'm with you. I'm totally turned off by this one suuuper muscly guy at my school that wears A) Simon Cowell type shirts (like he shops at baby gap) and B) waaaaay too short shorts. Now he has very, very nice legs and I know because I took a Health Education class that he eats a very strict diet and follows a very involved fitness routine so I support him showing that off but its not my style. Plus he OBVIOUSLY lays in the tanning bed which is so not cool to me.
Also, this guy at my new school seems obsessed with the neon trend and wears the tiny running shorts (in neon green and orange) to the gym. Again, you can do what you want but I'm not a fan.

Of course there is the option but if you want to show off you a** you should be able too! I posted a topic about feeling uncomfortable in the gym which ended up with me mentioning guys staring at my a** but that wasn't what bothered me. I ended up looking up at the guy, smiling, and saying, "well this is awkward" to which he blushed, and stumbled over his words. And that was in regular gym shorts, nothing showy.
I've never had someone leer at my crotch. That is beyond awkward. And if I saw someone sniff the seat of the abductor machine I'd be probably p!ss my pants laughing because at least I know I've been handling the free weights and haven't been on it ; )
My gym shorts aren't tight, but they are short. It's hot as hell.

During my journey, I am now pretty much only wearing tightly fitting gym clothes. Things bought at Dick's. They're very comfortable, they last longer as my size changes, they help with loose skin, and the biggest reason is they show off my new found curves that I've worked so hard to find. Plus, and place I go where I plan on meeting a future mate, I like to look my best. And if I'd like to share my new active life with a man, what better place to find him than the gym?!
Molly, you look great - congratulations on losing 100 lbs. You should wear anything you want!
I would just like to add that yoga pant are the most comfortable artical of clothing out there.
If it was socially acceptable, I would wear them all day everyday :)

My sweatpants argue otherwise.

I sit in judgment at the gym watching the rippling spandex laden muscles of mankind
(Ooops, those are my muscles...) Nevermind
I once had a dream that I was working out at the gym; and Lolo Jones was wearing the tighest-assiest outfit this side of body paint, and she was working out next to me.
And I said to her, "You look great in tight-ass work-out clothes."
Then I woke up.
I wear fitted stuff for two reasons:
one, so nothing's hanging loose and can't snag on any equipment.
two: to hold the girls steady when I'm running/kickboxing/whatever.
I do not like to feel like I'm bouncing all over the place, you know?
ETA: and because I have a fine ass. Just to be honest.
