I wasted £300 on a gym membership that I didn't use last year. Now I'm actually commited to losing weight I need some help. I'd like to just exercise in my own bedroom and I have two videos an a DVD which are: Billy Blanks Tae Bo, Nicky Waterman(?) fitness and simply ball DVD (exercise ball) This basically will cover my basic needs but I was going to ask for more this christmas. Can anyone make any suggestions? I would like a mixture Dance ones, yoga ones, aerobic ones whatever people could reccomend.

Thanks, Shannon x

I think the easiest way is to go to your local library and check out some videos/ dvds and try them out and if you find one you like or an instructor then go online and search for others in the same genre or by the same person.

I know alot of folks have had great success with the Sansone "Walk away the pounds" Some folks have to mute her though.  I have a cheap "Crunch" dvd I got at walmart for $10 that I love.  Its a mix of pilates and yoga.

You can also try videocollage or something like that it has previews online of all sorts of work out dvd's.
I've never heard of this sansone walk away the pounds. Waht is it?
I've never done this dvd series.  I have seen it at the local walmart though.

I searched the boards/ forums and found another thread that might help you

I'm going to try out Debbie Siebers' Thinner Thighs guaranteed and Slim in 6. That's per suggestion of a fellow forumer who had the same goal as me and had gotten her result. I will start logging the progress in my diary, when I received the DVD :)

What I love about Leslie Sansone's Walk away the pounds dvds are that anyone that is any size or fitness level can do them.  And she has so many to choose from,  I have the 1,2,3 and 4 mile ones and they actually have a meter at the bottom of the screen to tell you when you've hit a mile and so on.  It's very motivating and makes you want to keep going to that next mile.   She also has a fairly new one that's 5 miles, that's my next goal.  You can use small hand weights or weighted balls like she uses in some of the segments so you are also getting some strength training also.  They are reasonably priced also, you can find them at most discount stores or online.
It's a little outdated but I'm having fun with Kathy Smith's Kickboxing Workout.  The total workout is 45 minutes with a 35 minute workout and 10 minutes of abs and leg toning exercises.  She even has a great yoga stretching and tai chi bonus section.

I've ordered Kathy Smith's Lose Weight with Weights II and Hardcore Kickboxing Circuit for when I need to up the exercise factor.
CRUNCH FITNESS!!!

i love them! i swear by them, i lost so much weight using them, and they have a great variety! and they are fun to do!
rudegirl - I have a crunch dvd that I love too - and best yet they are <$10 at the walmart!!!  I have the yoga/pilates mix that is great toning work out.
i have most of them, that one is my new favorite one! i love the dance ones too, because they are real dance moves...i know, i have used them when i have gone out clubbing and a lot of people are impressed! hahahaa

the boot camp one is really hard work, but the results are awesome!!!!!!
Hi, I was just looking at some of the questions on here and noticed the post about the Sansone "Walk away the pounds".  I have done those in the past and they are great.  She is a Christian women and has several video's out now 1 mile to 4 miles, she also has an in door jogging dvd.
Does anyone know how many calories are burned doing the Sansone "walk away the pounds" I happen to notice on the tv last night and I think i'm going to try it when I get home tonight..

I use the Leslie Sansone dvd's as well.  I've used them for almost a year now, and along with cutting back the calories, I've lost a little over 50 lbs.  They are very basic (the steps are very simple) and don't require a lot of skill!  Very motivational too!  I bought my first one at Wal-mart, which was a 1 & 2 mile.  Then I have bought several more from her website.  I would highly recommend them!
I'm liking the SI6 so far for the challenge it provides. You gotta go with the levels that you are comfortable with in any of these home exercises, because no one will be there to help monitor you.
For variations, I am actually thinking about trying out one of the Dance Workout and one of the Kickboxing DVDs.
Rude-girl, what's the dance dvd you've tried? Crunch-fitness?

To keep up my routine, I joined the YMCA, which is inexpensive, but cant always make it with my schedule.  So, I have DVDs from Blockbuster or Netflix.  I always have one workout DVD on hand so I can workout at home.  (I am partial to Janis Safell.) Then I can order another, different one and always have one and not get bored.  Also, if you have cable, Comcast or Cablevision, go to OnDemand and there are lots of workout videos there (as well as diet recipes). I dont watch much TV, but it comes with the apartment. I am paying for it, so I may as well use it.  Also, you can download iTunes and there are a couple of sites that allow you to stream their video through iTunes (you dont have to have an iPod!).  Hope this helps.
i'm just gonna give you a website that offers fab dvds: www.gaiam.com
