Allergic to Eggs... What to do?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone!

I am starting a new diet, next week and I ran into a problem.

I am very allergic to egg whites, fish (all types) and sesame seeds (super random)

and of course the majority of this diet is to eat egg whites and fish.  Fish is fine because I can substitute lean chicken or turkey but what to do about egg whites?

It says for breakfast to eat 4 egg whites and 2 eggs but now I have no idea what to sub for that!

Any ideas/suggestions/ tips?

Thanks so much!  :)

Why would you pick a diet that is mostly eggs and fish if you're allergic to both of them?   Why not just count calories and eat the foods you aren't allergic to and that you like?   My opinion about diets that require you to eat specific foods is that they're really just trying to simplify things for you while restricting the amount of calories you eat. The real weight loss comes from eating less calories. As long as you eat mostly healthy foods within your calorie range you will lose weight in a healthy way. Try to find a way of eating that you will be able to stick long term rather than a very restrictive diet that you will only stick with for a short while before you give up...that just sets you up for yo-yo dieting and gets you nowhere.

It sounds like your diet plan is probably a high protien/low carb diet...?  You can just figure out the percentage of protein/carbs/fats you want to eat and make your own meal plans with the foods your aren't allergic to.

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, I am trying to do a low carb, high protein/fat diet.  That being said, I can easily substitute fish for another protein, but I am finding it hard to find a replacement for egg whites.  Unfortunately, almost every meal plan I look for uses egg whites or whole eggs.

I have been very successful eating healthy foods that I am NOT allergic too, however, this "diet" is very short term (ie: I am doing a competition so I would really like to lean out)

The meal plan I found looks awesome and very do-able minus the egg whites. No need to redo the whole plan when all I need is an egg white alternative!

Any suggestions please would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)
