Im new to this board but have really been enjoying all the great comments, info and inspiration. Anyone wake up REALLY hungry? I get up between 7:30-7:45 am and cannot do anything functional other than sip some coffee or watch the news headlines until I eat breakfast, I guess it is due to the fact that I used to snack a lot at night but now have stopped eating by 7-7:30, but my question is does anyone else wake up this ravenous?
If I don't eat at night (like 11pm or right before I go to bed) I actually wake up from being so hungry.
Just eat something small right before you go to bed and you'll probably feel better in the morning.

I tend to snack on 10 calorie popsicles right before bed. Then, the first thing I do (after the morning bathroom run) is I start my crunches and push ups. This tends to hold me over through getting ready. Then I get my coffee. And soon after, my oatmeal.
Do what works for you and if you have to have a late snack then try to work it in as a scheduled snack.

I wake up hungry, and I like it. It means I appreciate breakfast more, and never end up skipping it.
Some day's I wake up and I'm so hungry I refill my cereal bowl 3 or 4 times!!! That is with my huge banana I eat every morning. Then I still eat more when I get to work!!! Jesh, sometimes I feel like my entire morning is spent chowing down. I do admit...I LOVE IT!!! Breakfast is the best thing ever!!! Well besides my four year old :-P
But I have to eat as soon as I get up.... breakfast is definitely a habit now. Hopefully its a good thing.... cause I never used to have to HAVE to eat as soon as I got out of bed... now I do.
And in consequence of that, I'm hungry today.
once you give up tv you will find many changes in your life ogram and the tv set never work together...tryliving life as a participant and not an audience...good luck
you may be confusing hunger with the need for water. usually if you drink some water the feeling goes away.
Its more of an empty feeling then hunger because ur body hasnt eaten for about 8 hrs.
somedays i wake up hungry, and somedays i don't.
yesterday and today i ate the same breakfast (grapefruit and yogurt) and yesterday i was starving afterwards still, but today i'm fine.
Well, I have the SAME problem. Actually for the last 2 days which not always this happends to me waking up sooo hungry. I actually at really late and ate two bowls of pintos and lite sausage. SURELY i shouldnt be waking up at 7:30 cuz my stomach is growling? Is it cause I have a high metabolizm?
I wake up so ravenous that I prepare my breakfast (egg whites/steel-cut oatmeal/coffee/water/skim milk/vitamins) before I go to bed. When I get up at 4:20 a.m., I use the bathroom and go straight to the kitchen, pull my bowls of egg whites and oatmeal out of the fridge, toss them in the microwave and in less than 10 minutes I have a hot breakfast that I enjoy TREMENDOUSLY! By the way, on cold days, I set up a t.v. tray next to my warm, just vacated, bed, and climb back in bed to eat my breakfast. Now that's a treat! My breakfast is so filling that I don't need my first snack until 9:45 or 10:00, but then I eat about every two and a half hours after that. I've lost nearly 80 lbs. (or 79.2) since last July 14. I'm delighted to be soooo ready to eat when I get out of bed in the morning!
Oddly enough, I wake up hungry if I eat before bed. My stomach is trained and thrives on routine. If I am behaving and eating every 3 hours, my belly will tell me when I wake up by asking for more. However, if I skip snacks/meals or eat dinner really early and I do not eat before bed, my belly doesn't seem to notice that it needs food!
I do agree with meleba, that waking up hungry makes me appreciate breakfast, and forces me to eat! I love breakfast, and I try to eat it before anything else if I have time, but I know eating before bed is not good...so I am stuck as to how to wake up hungry w/out the added calories, unless I just pop some grapes before bed.

When I first started just watching what I eat, it was crazy how hungry I was. now I dont snack after dinner, but do make sure I drink at least 8 ounces of water before bed, I get up at about 5-6 am and eat an hour later, always, and in that hour I have my coffee and at least 16 ounces of water.. it seems to be that when I make sure I am hydrated, the hungry is not there unless I am truly hungry.
Stardust, that's the idea! You are supposed to break-fast of the your sleeping hours. I was raised in South America and as a rule the folks there are not as obese because their main meal of the day is at noon. Here in the states we eat dinner lat and sit in front on tv and go to sleep - result is we never use the energy of our main meal.
I have been told to not eat after 7pm, not easy but it will make all the difference because then I will eat a good breakfast (calories in) which I am bound to burn the rest of my day (calories out)....
I only wake up hungry if I eat late. If I eat say a bowl of cereal, or we get a night out and hit the Waffle House on the way home, I wake up like I haven't eaten in days. But if I eat dinner around 7ish, I am good.
