So I'm just now starting to experiment with apples.  As a kid my family bought Red Delicious and only Red Delicious.  I think they have a nasty aftertaste.

When I got to college my roommate got me into Golden Delicious, which had a sweeter flavor, but were less firm.

A couple months ago a friend had me try the honey crisp, and they were firm and sweet, but not around often.

So now I'm on a quest to find the best tasting apple!  I just tried a Braeburn and I didn't like it.  It was too mealy for my tastes.  Yesterday I tried a Fuji and it is by far my favorite so far.  I still have a Jazz and a Rome at home to try.  I don't like Granny Smiths at all, they're too sour.

Basically, I want to know what everyone's favorite apple is and why.  Possibly help me along on my journey to find the best apple ever grown :)

Galas and Fujis are AWESOME- sweet, crunchy, no grainy texture
i also once had honeycrisp which was really amazing

pink lady

jazz apples are absolutely fantastic

i alsoo like pink lady apples, and granny smith

I tried a Tentation apple today (from Jewel), it looks like a poor cousin of the Golden Delicious, but it was suprisingly nice. I'll buy some more over the weekend.

Granny Smiths have always been my fave, but after reading posts here, looks like I may be trying some new ones :)

growing up in Washington State, we had gravenstein apples and they are my favorite.  I now live in Missouri and haven't seen any here, but galas are also a favorite of mine.  I love apples!

Fuji and Golden Delicious are my favorites. I like Granny Smiths but they are too firm. :p
