I am a baker. Maybe not the best but the urge is nested deep in my core. I must make something edible and good and preferably with chocolate lol. But this isn't about chocolate...not yet at least. I just need to bake something sweet. I figured I would try an apple pie completely from scratch. I've never done so I figure, why not ^_^
Now since i'm trying to be healthy I figured I would give this dish a try and I wanted to share it with you guys to get some opinions on it...seeing as I've never done this before,
so enjoy ^_^
Today I made a big loaf of pumpkin protein bread (no grain, low carb) turned out fantastic!

Personally, I wouldn't use that recipe- looks like a lot of unnecessary sugar. I've been wanting to try this recipe...

In this recipe, I'd use whole wheat flour instead of AP, coconut oil instead of vegetable, and probably omit the maple syrup if my apples are sweet enough. Oh, and I probably wouldn't use the cornstarch either- I've cooked apples before and they create their own thick syrup.
Message me about anything chocolate. I have found the most divine brownie recipe that is on the healthier side. It's hard to say a dessert is healthy when there is added sugar (even if it is raw, agave, or honey), lol.

I'm not a fan of pumpkin but that sounds pretty good/

That recipe looks pretty good too and love your replacements. I'm unfamiliar with coconut oil though. I don't even think i've ever seen it in the grocery store. Does it have the taste of coconut in it?
Also, I don't know about skipping the glazing part. I've only used apples in one other recipe and that was apple baked porkchops which I made a glaze for using apple juice, flour, butter, and brown sugar (I know so not healthy lol). Do you have to cook the apples any longer when not using a glaze?
I totally agree with your comment about sugar and healthy. I didn't think about it when I started this whole CC thing until I went into the kitchen and looked at my pots and pans and my fingers started to twitch. I was like crap, now I have to find a recipe thats sweet AND healthy lol. I would love to try that brownie recipe though. ^_^
I know how you feel! I love to cook and bake and while healthy eating is really fulfilling my desire to experiment in the kitchen, I haven't got to do a lot of baking. Have you ever heard of Chocolate Covered Katie? She's a blogger who develops (comparatively) healthy recipes. I haven't had a chance to make many of her recipes yet, but I loooove her fudge babies!

Oh boy I see some cookies that i simply must try. <3
Hey, zianitha. I use an organic virgin coconut oil in my cooking and baking. It smells and faintly tastes of coconut. I think it pairs well with veggies, fish, and cocoa. This oil has to be cooked on med-low heat though.
I don't think the apples have to be cooked any longer. But I guess it depends on how well you like them cooked. I like mine to still have a little bite.
I'll send you the link to the brownie recipe via private message.
