I know all beans are good for you, but is there a bean that you would rate the best or healthiest?

Or, which bean is highest in protein, which is highest in fiber, etc? I would look this up myself, but some of the stats vary with some beans, and I was hoping to get more accurate info. Thanks all! :)

Hmm, I don't know the answer but I've LOVE to hear people that have some insight on this topic!
black beans. I just finished eating some (safeway brand) black bean soup which has 14g fiber.

I just love the taste, I could eat them out of a can... and I think I have before.

"When researchers analyzed different types of beans, they found that, the darker the bean's seed coat, the higher its level of antioxidant activity. Gram for gram, black beans were found to have the most antioxidant activity, followed in descending order by red, brown, yellow, and white beans."

Oh boy -- bean talk!  I just love beans!  I've been eating quite a bit of beans the past couple months and am amazed at how versatile they really are...you can fix them so many ways and they blend well with veggies and meats of all types.  And they're way easy to cook (I know cuz I'm no cook & I can make them).

I agree on the black bean -- I think per gram it's the best protien to calore ratio.  Pintos seem higher in calories.  And while good old navy beans (white beans) taste good (especailly all smooshed) they don't seem to pack as much nutrition as the others.  This I found by looking them up on CC's food tool.

BTW you can mix different types of beans for a wonderful and tasty medly.  Just be sure to cook them separately or you get a non-descript grey mass.

ps - don't forget garbanzos and 3-bean salad, which is a wonderful summertime food!
OH, and they are relatively inexpensive.  What a joy are beans!
one last thing...you're probably thinking, "Man, I don't want to be in the same room as her, she probably farts up a storm..."

Well, no so.  Beans do not give one gas any more than any other food.  In fact, fruit is worse for me than beans ever were.

probably too much information in that last sentence, but oh well, everyone probably stopped reading by now anyway.
By the way, the "best bean" is the human bean...nuk nuk nuk...!
Oh good, black beans are those I eat the most of!  After that, some kidney beans and the occasional garbanzo.  But black are the best!?  That's great news to me!
woohoo black beans win!
I recently bought a few cans of black beans and was going to prepare them tonight. Any simple preparation ideas? I don't have much for accompaniments at home and probaby won't get to the store before I make them, but here's what I got, let me know if there's a winning combo anywhere in here:

garlic

tomatoes (fresh and canned)

frozen sweet corn

frozen edamame

frozen sugar snap peas in pod

zucchini

cilantro

balsamic vinegar

olive oil

hot sauce

green peppers

eggs

carrots

cottage cheese

brown rice

ideas? And I do not have a food processor so pureed soup is out... getting one soon, bummer.

Thanks!

Soybeans.

They are the only beans that are a complete protein. The other beans need to be combined with brown rice or a complete protein in order for your body to utilize the protein in them.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
