Best food to eat at McDonalds?

Quote  |  Reply

My uncle is taking my cousins and I out to lunch there, and I can't say that I don't want anything to eat (because then he'll accuse me of being an anorexic or something, which I am not). McDonalds is not the best choice of food when your on a diet, but I can't convince him to bring us anywhere else.

Since I have no choice but to go, can you tell me what is the lowest calorie meal  and best food choice at McDonalds?

Try to get a salad with grilled chicken (if possible) with a light dressing.

Check the Mickey D's site to see the calories, but considering fat intake of other food options, etc. this is more than likely your best option.

I don't live in the US, so I'm sure you have better options (I heard of a McVeggie burger on whole wheat), but last time I was kindly forced to eat at McDonald's I had a grilled chicken salad, skipped on the croutons... had a lite vinaigrette dressing which I only used half of (not because it was too high on calories but because it just wasn't necessary).

For drink I went with a small, supposedly sugar free, lemonade.

Needless to say, your uncle will probably still make fun of you for ordering a salad... so be ready for that!

I'm a fan of this site.  It helps me out a lot!  But, if you don't want anything it suggests, I would say just go to McDonald's website and check out their nutritionals =)

I usually just get the grilled chicken sandwich without the mayo or whatever sauce it is that they put on it.  Just a piece of regular old grilled chicken, and they will even put it on a wheat roll for you if you ask.  Throw on some tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and pickles, and you have yourself a fairly nutritious sandwich from McDonalds.  Who woulda thunk it?

You can also order a pack of those apple slices with light caramel for a side instead of fries.  I find it pretty easy to find someting to eat anywhere.  Enjoy!

The Southwest Salad w/grilled chicken is awesome.  Only 320 calories.  It comes with a packette of some kind of southwest ranch, but it already has a great lime-y glaze all over the chicken and lettuces and a kind of black bean and corn salsa anyways.

(I live in Canada, ngg21).

I think I'll probably end up going for a salad. I'm going for anything under 300 calories. Argh, I just hate McDonalds. It's so...tasty, but it's a fattening as hell!

First of all, if you want to say you don't want to eat anything there, then just say it. If your uncle is accusing you of being something you are not, then you need to stand up for yourself, stop worrying about what others MAY think of you, and set your uncle straight.

If you WANT to have something to eat, then get a salad with a vinaigrette dressing - not a dressing with lots of cheese or cream, like Ranch or Thousand Island - and have a milk or orange juice. Pretty much anything else at McDogfood is garbage in my opinion.

I always get the grilled chicken caesar salad. Make sure you get the GRILLED chicken, not the crispy chicken! Also, make sure you only use a little bit of the dressing - there's a A LOT in that package, and you really only need about a quarter of it. You should leave the croutons behind as well. This should get you around 300-350 calories. Pretty good - and it tastes pretty good as well!

Why is that, do you think?  Is it just cost, does he like McDs that much, have your cousins voted for it, that's the best choice in the area, or is he just that controlling?  Has he said why it has to be McDs?

But the southwestern chicken salad is a good option if there isn't a way to go to another place.

I have one of those "meat and potatoes" families also, the kind that WANT you to eat. Because FOOD=HAPPY. So EAT AND BE HAPPY! lol but When McDonalds comes in the picture, I just tell them its disgusting. Has nothing to do with calories, its just GROSS. The food is gross, its cooked in FAT and OIL. What are they going to say? "ugh. you dont like gross fatty oil salt laden fast food? anorexic!!!" lol

Wendys has way  better options! (chili and side salad yum!)

I sure do love me a sauce-free Ultimate Chicken Grill sandwich with a plain baked potato or side salad depending on my caloric allowance. I bring my own bottle of Tobasco everywhere >.> so flavor isn't an issue with the plain potato.

In a bind, I discovered there Chipolte grilled chicken wrap which is really good.

When I visit my mom at the nursing home, I somethimes bring her a McD's Fudge Sundae (330 cal) and grab me a yogart parfait w/o granolo (130 cal).  Working from memory but pretty sure thats the calorie count.

Chipolte has a lot of very healthy options, Qdoba too! As long as you don't eat the whole gigantic portion lol. I don't know how anyone could anyway!! And if you get a burrito - skipping the tortilla cuts out a ton of cal. Although I love their big stretchy tortillas so I'll suffer the extra cal!

Oh and their salads are so good without any dressing add corn salsa! Yum! With guac!

Mcdonalds has burritos??

The first word in there is Chipolte (sp)

Best thing to eat at McDonalds, ........ Dasani water, and a packet of mustard.    Or is that only at Sonic?

I believe they still have salads there????  I would go with that .....(not the one with the fried chicken on top!) oor the chicken wraps......!!! with ice water on teh side and vinegerette dressing

thats what I get when I'm dieting

however ...best thing to eat when not dieting??? ZOMG! chicken mcnuggets sweet and sour sauce, followed by two cheese burgers, and LARGE french fries...followed by a cookie or two (chocolate chip please!) and then some water......... ( I eat my emotions.... ha ha ..... wait..this is not funny..I'm going to go blow my nose... conveniantly the kleenex are right next to the fridge..errr)

@kankan:

Oh, ok. I was confused because we were talking about Mcdonalds Chipolte snack wraps.

It's like a classic tuna casserole, only easier, cheesier, and lower in fat. An all-around winner!
