My boyfriends mother is trying tomake me fat
how do y'all go about logging the food that you eat at your families or friends or significant others family and friends? I guesstimate when its something I know like mac and cheese or salad etc but things like casserole or ethnic food makes my head spin.
Also any advice on how to manage a host whose idea of a portion wildly differs from what is healthy? especially when its fantastic home cooked food

my cousin tried slipping butter cubes into my food before.
thats only because I was to thin. She didnt have to be so dramatic though and try to scare me ![]()

buttercubes...yesh thats crazy...maybe depends. But yea my boyfriend's mom literally attacks me with homemade peanutbutter chocolate balls and everything dipped in chocolate. This was also around my relapse time though.
My fiancé's mother is pretty much the same - she keeps bringing food over and inviting us for dinner - especially since I've been trying to eat healthier... Oh, and she always comments that I'm "too thin" (I'm not) and that I need to eat more (while her food is delicious, mostly natural and quite healthy, she's been overweight all her life, so it's quite safe to say that her estimation of a "decent portion" is way more off than mine).
What I do is ask her for the recipe. She takes it as a compliment (she's a good cook, so it should be taken as such) and I can log it, so it's a win-win. And I usually have a small portion and bring some of the food home afterwards.
I guesstimate most of the time. I don't really like the idea of being too "exact" about it since I don't have a food scale and if I do, I'd probably be obsessive about it. As long as my weight is maintained healthily, I just estimate what I eat but I do it well so it's not that far off from the real count.
When people offer me "bad" food, I will either say no thank you, or eat it but not all of it. *shrug* I can't just continue eating something I don't like if I don't enjoy it. There are times when I screw up and eat too much but I will try to make it up the next day by eating better. I can't always expect everything to be healthy all the time... I let loose, so it's better not to over think it and just do my best. :)
