100 calorie Hostess cupcakes are gone!

A couple of weeks ago when I saw a post about the new 100 calorie hostess cupcakes, I went to my regular grocery store and there they were.  I bought two flavors to try loved the chocolate ones.  When I was at the grocery store the next time, I bought 2 more boxes (my husband likes them too).  Now, I've run out and my grocery store doesn't have them anymore.  So, I checked a few other places in my area, including Target, Wal-Mart, Kroger, and Tom Thumb/Randalls.  Anyone else had this problem?  I love these little cupcakes for dessert (and they are packed with fiber).  Is it possible that they were just test marketing these?  If I can't find them, I think I'm going to have to write the company.  They are so good (well - at least they are better than no chocolate at all).  :)

If you can't find those again, see if you can find the "weight watchers" brand cake snacks.  I just discovered them about a week ago at wal mart.  They are 90 or 100 calories each, fairly nutritious, and taste Sooooo good.  They have an expiration date too so they are fairly fresh.  I got chocolate cake with chocolate icing, lemon cake with lemon icing, and carrot cake with cream cheese icing.  They are all great.  Each cake is about the size of a zinger, maybe a little bigger.

I saw them too sarah.. couple weeks ago.. I went to the grocery store a couple days ago... and could not find them either... so weird !!!! :l

its like they disapeared !!!

I found them at Safeway tonight. I put them back tho as I haven't the will power yet to stop at just 1 serving. I would eat the whole box on a binge. :( I got some smart ones deserts instead. I only eat those every once in a while. Hostess is my downfall. 

Thank GOODNESS someone else noticed this!! I actually had coupons, and searched all over my grocery store -- even checked one on my way home from work!!

Thought I was going crazy!

I know the answer to this problem.  Interstate Brands (Hostess) was not prepared for the overwhelming response to this new jproduct.   They are having a hard time keeping up with production.  Kinks are being worked out and prodcution should be up and running at top speed shortly.

It helps that my husband works for Hostess.  Only way I would have the answer for you all.

ny68 - I've been eating the WW snack cakes for at least the last year (if not longer).  And yes, they are good.  But, I've gotten tired of them and I think these Hostess snacks are even better - they are more moist and I love the little bit of cream in the center.  Plus, there have been times when I've gotten a box of the WW snack cakes, and one or two of them tasted artificial (like chemicals).  I managed to trace it back to the chocolate frosting.  If you eat the frosting by itself (I sometimes do that), it just doesn't taste right.  But, until the Hostess cakes come back, I'll be eating the WW ones. 

.. and as soon as I see the hostess ones, I'll be stocking up on those - they sound GREAT!  No wonder there was a run on them!

I find the Weight watchers ones tasted too dry.  Now hostess cupcakes sound yummy. 

I hate it when a food I find that is really healthy becomes popular cuz then you can never find them again.  I have this problem with the La Tortilla Factory low fat whole wheat tortillas.  Used to be able to get the large ones everywhere - then a friend who does Weight Watchers said they talked about these at a WW meeting and bam - can't find them anywhere anymore and when they do have them on the shelf I'll buy as many as I can to stock up LOL

i noticed that too!  second trip to the grocery store and they disapeared. Glad to know there is just a shortage. 

HEY since your husband works for hostess, let him know they are missing the squiggles on the top! I want my squiggles! LoL

I wasn't all that impressed with these but we do have them here in oregon. Give me a skinny cow any day! Course they do have a few more calories but only 40 more. Couldn't add them to my food log but I guess they will add it eventually?

Blueotter - remember you can manually add a food item you enjoy. 

x17star17x - if they added the little squiggle (which is seven in count) they would have to add more calories. 

We currently have carrot cake in the cupboard.  My daughter wanted them.  I just don't care for sweet stuff that much.

I just saw a bunch yesterday, and grabbed a few boxes.  I didn't want to buy to many though.  I've already had one cupcake pack and one carrot cake pack today. :-(

Okay, so I found the last four boxes at another Target store in my area.  But, I fought the temptation to buy all four.  I bought two and left the other two there for the next person.  :)

YES!!! Ismile! An insider at Hostess!!! I am so glad you gave that info! I thought the 100 cal packs were gone forever!!! Man they are tasty!!!!

I love the yellow cake ones and the carrot cake, but I too can't ever find them anymore. 

I only bought one carrot cake one, and now I'm wishing I had bought more of those too.  I'm normally not too fond of the 100 calorie packs, but these are well thought out (except production quantities).  Very tasty and a decent serving size too somehow.  I'd never have guessed that they were only 100 calories.

They're back! At least, they are at Giant supermarket in Maryland. All 3 kinds.
