Coconut oil
I have a few questions about coconut oil.
What brands are best to use or all of them the same?
Instead of mixing it with butter can you use just coconut oil to bake with?

I use Nutiva, it's really good. But any kind that is unrefined should be good. It should be a soft white color, not beige or clear.
Watch out for coconut "oil" and coconut "butter"-- coconut butter is delicious, you just can't exactly cook with it. It makes a nice dip or spread though.
Yes, you can use it as a sub for butter. I do it EVERYDAY!!
I am using Louana brand. It was the only coconut oil in the baking aisle. Next time I grocery shop I am going to look in orgainic foods section.
I have added to my popcorn and mixed in my coffee. I just need to rethink how to cook with it. So many recipes suggest to mix butter and coconut oil when you bake.
It doesn't have any flavor which is something I could live with.
I have noticed a BIG difference in my skin and hair.
I have also noticed that I don't have cravings for sweets.

and yes, I 100% agree with the decreased sugar cravings and better hair/skin statement! **though this happens when you decrease sugar in the diet and increase fat intake-- coconut oil, avocado, and fatty fish work wonders!!
I also mix coconut oil with my facial cleanser, and put it in my hair if I need a little extra conditioning (I keep an extra container of the stuff in my shower
)
I just started using coconut oil. I made both sweet potato brownies and these pumpkin almond muffin things with it. The only thing I can say when baking with it (along with grain free) is that you have to make sure it melts prior to using it and you need to let everything cool prior to taking it out of the dish.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I heard a lot about the benefits of this oil, but never tried it before. I am trying to lose weight and I think that I just have to be careful and watch my portions if I ever want to use it. Are you guys trying to lose weight or are you just maintaining? how much is enough per day?
I am going to try and replace butter with coconut oil.
