Crackers!!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Today in my weekly browse and read new labels search for the lowest calorie snack foods- I came across:

OLDE CAPE COD "Rounds" Crackers.... 16 crackers = 66 calories.

SIXTEEN FULL SIZE CRACKERS = SIXTY SIX CALORIES! WOW!

They are about the size of RITZ Crackers - but are actually a SALTINE type cracker.

So that makes them like 4 calories each, whereas all the other crackers I've seen of comparable size are anywhere from 10-25 each. In fact these are so low calorie, I just emailed the company to see if there was a misprint on the label. hahah. I'll wait to hear back.

Even better, they are all natural - no trans fats - and they are vegan.

Ingredients: Unbleached Wheat Flour, Water, Canola Oil, All Natural Cane Juice, Salt, Yeast, Baking Soda.

Oh & the sodium is only 60mg per serving too! (3%dv)

The box says exclusively baked by Westminster Crackers - so maybe they are sold under different labels as well.

Just thought I'd share.

If this is true, I am SOOOO buying these crackers.  Since crackers are usually my snack downfall, in that I eat well over 2 servings at a sitting this would really be helpful!

I know!! I'm a cracker addict too. love saltines, or actually oyster crackers are better for me only because I can pop them one at a time, without having to bite anything. hahah

I would really hope that the nutritional data on the box is correct (especially since I ate 32 crackers!). Funny how I'm so suspicious when I see something that seems too good to be true.  I'll let you know if they email me back.

thats awesome!! where did you find them???

Food Lion, regular grocery store. In the cracker/cookie aisle - but they were grouped with all the sugar free and "natural" items.

:)

i am definately going to look for these! thanks! =)

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I just heard back from the company after I inquired about the accuracy of the too good to be true nutrition data - & this is what they said:

Our apologies,

The portion (16 crackers) on the Rounds was a misprint, it should have been 6

We have discontinued use of those boxes and are now packing in the corrected version. There are still a few boxes in distribution and on store shelves but should disappear soon.

CRAP! That totally sucks. Even more so since I ate the whole box over the weekend. No wonder I'm up 8 lbs this morning... lol ...  Why can't just 1 thing actually be too good AND true?!?!
