What DOESN'T have carbs in it!

Quote  |  Reply

Seriously.. I try to eat healthy but I'm still always about 5% above what I should be getting, so about 65% of what I eat is carbs. Can someone tell me something just as filling, but without the guilt of the high percentage?

I'm not very good at knowing these kind of things since I still live at home and what's here is all I have, I do have a lot of ingredients to make something, and suggestions?

I live lo-carb but you'll have to be more specific. Another way to look at things is by net carbs. I eat about the same amount of carbs as protein (about 45% protein or 130g and about 100g or 38% carbs). Mine come from the fiber one I eat in the am and the squash I have as a snack and the 4g carbs from the fiber I eat in the protein shakes. First deduct the total fiber from the carbs... that will lead you to a lower number. Also if it's veggies (not including starchy veggies) then you're fine... no worries. If you need recipe ideas or menu plans lemme know and I can try to help :)

G'Luck!

Thanks.. yeah I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies..

Meat is usually carb-free... except if you buy the prepackaged lunch meats that have additives, then you'll see there's up to 3 grams of carbs per serving sometimes... Kind of gross eh?

Personally I think carbs are over-rated, or should I say eating low carb is overrated.  You really didn't say, but I would assume you are trying to lose weight?  It all comes down to calories consumed vs calories burned each day.  Unfortunately, you will never be able to rid yourself of carbs, everything has carbs and carbs are needed for vital organ function, brain function, etc.  They are important and you should never try to go totally carb free.  I don't think that restricting any type of foods, or carbs is the answer.  It makes eating a nutritional diet almost impossible when you have to cut out certain foods.  Personally I do not look at carbs at all, only calories and maybe sodium and I have lost 12 pound and counting over the last 5 weeks.  I'm still eating veggies, fruits, breads (whole wheat), dairy, potatoes, brown rice, etc.  Even desserts.  I'm just making sure I don't go over my calorie allocation for the day.

If weight loss is not your goal and you are just trying to eat healthy, really I wouldn't concern yourself too much with carbs.  Just try to get in your servings of fruits, veggies, grains, etc.  You will be just fine. It's really hard to eat low carb and get all the nutrients you need at the same time.  Good luck! :)

Just make sure any carbs you do eat are low on the glycemic index.  If you don't know what that is, there's your problem right there!

Chicken and egg whites have no carbs.  They are pure protein and fat.

Chicken and fish have no carbs, eggs, cheese.

Veg has less carbs than fruit

just google the atkins diet youll get a ton of low or no carb foods

all real meat is carb free...all eggs have 1... cheese if its real has 1 per ounce... most full fat dressing are low, butter/oil/fats are all carb free... nuts are pretty low... berries are lower for fruit...

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
