How on earth can POP CORN be BAD?

Popcorn is bad whenever you drench it in butter and parmesan cheese and salt...

If you can limit your toppings and just eat it plain though, it shouldn't be so bad?
i love popcorn, especially my 100 cal pop secret!  Yea it's not bad at all.  I mean if you eat it at the movies, it can cost ya 500 calories for a small one... but a home pooped bag, I cant imagine how it would be bad... I eat it every day almost.  Gotta get through my munchies some how :)
THANK GOD!  ANY one see that show Xweighted, the one with the chick that went in the Calgary mag VEX..I forgets her name...?  What the hell was Paul talking about anyway?
She could be on a low carb diet. But popcorn is really not a bad food. Maybe a little high in GI (but low GL, which evens it out)

Just be really careful and read the labels closely...

Last night I had a hankering so I went into the cabinet... we had two types of microwave popcorn (my kids eat it all the time, me not so often). The first was 110 cals per serving (Paul Newman light). The second (SmartPop extra butter) was 180 cals per serving. I love butter, so I was happy to see it was only 70 cals extra and chose that one....

But then while it was popping, I looked at the labels closer:

The serving size for the first was 3 cups. The serving size for the second was only 1 cup!!! That's a HUGE difference... and if I hadn't read so closely, I would've had an amazing amount of fat....

I ended up throwing out the whole bag and opting for fiber cereal instead.
and THAT is exactly why you buy the pop secret 100 calorie pop. :) You can mindlessly munch the whole bag without even thinkin much.  It's nice.
Hmm. I dont know why they would say that. I have always read and heard the pop corn in moderation and w/o butter is actually a good snack. Today I went grocery shopping with my mom and discovered Orville Redenbacher's 100 calorie mini bags. I just got home and popped a bag but it made so much I could not eat it by myself! I literally had to share it with my mom and brother! I went to closely read the label and it makes 6 cups!! and its only 100 calories! Woot! I still cant believe it lol! I <3 popcorn so much.

Unfortunately, they don't sell that brand at Whole Foods, which is where I shop. They also don't sell Fiber One, which I've been wanting to try. Sigh...

I keep asking my DH to pick those up when he hits the other supermarket for his Diet Coke, but he keeps forgetting or bringing the wrong brands home. (hence why we had the Extra Butter junk to begin with!)
i hear ya jen!  i love fiber one and was seriously shocked to find that they didn't have it at whole foods ... with all their TONS of fiber cereals!  what the heck!?
The second post on this forum says "home POOPED popcorn". Sorry, I am easily ammused! Anyways. NO smart pop and the other low cal popcorns are great snacks! You can even get airpopped, no butter at the movie theater I go too! Lots of fiber!! Dont believe everything pennyhollett, or soon you wont be able to eat anything!
Teenwolf, have you tried Kashi Good friends Cinna-Crunch?? It has too much sugar probably but tons of fiber and mmmm.... it's delicious!!
I can see home POOPED PopCorn not only being bad for you but tastin bad too...lol.....mmmmm pooped corn!

I love Pooped corn...Smiles, (not makin fun, just funny).
Watch out for Popcorn!!! Seriously look at the label. I was looking to buy a bag the other day... I looked at the list of ingredients and the SECOND ingredient listed was Partially Hydrogenated Oil. That's a BIG NO NO! My eyes traveled upward to witness that it contained 6 grams of Trans Fat. You could say that I threw that thing back on the shelf. Haha.

The good news is that some brands do not use Partially Hydrogenated Oils in their products. Just be safe and always look!
Get an air popper!  seriously, they are cheap and plain popcorn is too.  The only thing is, you might have a hard time getting the seasonings to stick to the dry popcorn.  I've gotten used to eating it plain.

I know first hand how a healthy snack like popcorn can go bad.  I worked at a movie theater for awihle, and we used to use about 12fl. oz of Coconut Oil(high in sat. fats) for 2 cups of unpopped popcorn, not to mention the tablespoon of salt we'd add.

Just be careful in where you order popcorn, a lot more oil than you think is used.
hahahaha I didn't realize I said pooped popcorn.  You know what I meant!
Now my poor mind is re-reading this thread with "poop" every time it says "pop."

/me looks around for some brain-bleach
I almost died laughing @ pooped corn...

Priceless stuff... The irony that you CAN poop corn just makes it more funny...
I read somewhere that Madonna used to eat popcorn(plain) to shed baby weight
I had an air "pooper" at my last place and we used to make air popped popcorn and then spray it with butter flavored Pam and lightly salt it. It was SOOO yummy!
