Hey there, I'm trying to lose weight and I'm on 1300 cals a day. I'm trying not only to meet my calorie goal but also my nutritional specs, but I'm consistently not getting enough potassium and iron.
I've decided to buy some beans to try and make up for the iron, but I am having a hard time seeing how I'm going to get enough potassium in my diet. I have at least one potato and banana a day, but they are far from giving me enough potassium.
Any suggestions on how to meet my potassium and iron recommendations every day?
I've been having the same problem. I don't think a lot of the "calorie info" on the site tells you how much potassium is in most of the food items, so some of it may just not be recorded.
Like I just ate a mini bag of Smart Pop popcorn and added it to my food log, and there was nothing filled out as far as potassium goes, but on The Nutrition Facts on the box, it says 280mg.
Not sure if this is helpful at all, but I also went to GNC and bought a potassium supplement to add to my other daily vitamins.
Hmm, well that's certainly something to keep an eye on. I thought of purchasing a supplement but the potassium that I saw at the store was only 60mg and it seemed pointless to even bother with so small an amount per pill.
I had the same problem, I use Centrum Advance Multivitamin and it seems to work...it's not very expensive either. :)
I agree with the others as far a supplementing with a multivitamin. If you know the nutritional value of the food that you are eating, you can add it as a new food. This way you can make sure the correct amount of potassium is acccounted for.

the potassium is wrong on CC, it is not acurate on this site, don't worry about it.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
