Favorite Greek Yogurt Brand?

Quote  |  Reply

What is your favorite?

Have you tried the dannon oikos? I heard it was high in sugar.

i don't like plain ones.. any good flavored ones?

I like plain dannon oikos, the flavored ones are too sweet. I just use plain and add honey or jam or eat it plain. I also like Trader Joe's brand and Fage.

get plain and sweeten with stevia and vanilla, cinnamon, coconut, berries... or whatever flavor you like

all the flavored ones are garbage.. pure sugar. totally defeats the purpose

I'm not a fan of the non-fat ones.

Trader Joe's greek style yogurt, the full fat version.  I tried oikos with honey, edible, but not great.

I just have the Oikos anyway.  Some sugar won't kill me.

Hey Angela, My favorite Greek yogurt so far would have to be Liberte. Although I have yet to try the one you've mentioned by dannon that one sounds good!!

Dannon Oikos was by far the worst Greek yogurt I've found that's sold in Canada. Liberte's plain Greek yogurt is the only one I'll buy. I don't usually like sweetened yogurts but their vanilla one is really great. President's Choice is ok.

Fage is the best Greek yogurt I've had outside of Greece. Unfortunately, it's not sold here. Chiobani (sp?) was ok too.

oikos is by far the best. hands down. strawberry is my favorite flavor.

I only eat non-fat, and usually plain, Greek yogurt -- Vosgos was the brand I started eating with.  It's a little pricey, now I usually stick with Chobani.  Fage is also ok.

I've tried every yogurt out there and Oikos is very good. My favorite is the keylime, but since that is high in fat and sugar it is like eating dessert. I usually get yogurt with fruit on the bottom and only eat about a third of the fruit. Even though Oikos, Trader Joe's and Chobani are all very good, the best is home made because you get the creamiest texture with skim milk and can add whatever you want.

Fage 2% is by far the best.  If I can't get that, I get Chobani 0%.

I've tried the Oikos, and I do not find it very good.

As for flavored, I know Fage has some flavored Greek yogurts, but I tend to stick with the plain ones as I like to add a drizzle of honey and some fresh fruit.

Liberté only? Is astro brand greek yogurt not very good either?

I haven't tried Astro but I don't like their non-Greek yogurts so I didn't rush out to try their Greek yogurt.

I went to Greece in May and since then I've been trying all the Greek yogurts available in Canada to see if I can find something similar to the authentic ones. So far, Liberte is the closest... not too tart, just thick enough. I've tried Greek Gods (not good), President's Choice (not bad but not a favourite) and Dannon Oikos (too tart, not thick enough). Maybe I should try Astro, since it's the only brand that's available in that I haven't tried!

Seriously though, Fage is THE best.

Actually Fage (Total) is the brand that originally started the fashion with 'Greek yogurt' outside Greece and it is the only brand mentioned here that is actually Greek. By the way in Greece this type of yogurt is called 'strained yogurt' (there are many other types) and the absolute best in my opinion is the Agno 2% one. Check it out in your next visit!

QFT!

Oh, btw, Siggi's Icelandic-style Skyr (strained yogurt) is also really really good. The method is somehow different than the one used to create Greek yogurt but the result is thick & delicious. http://skyr.com/products_overview.html

I also can't get Siggi's in Canada. I found it at Whole Foods in the States and fell in love.

Me too-Liberte. I add cinnamon.

I like Skotidakis, plain 0% fat.  18 grams of protein and only 2 grams of sugar per serving, plus the taste is great!

Liberte plain 0% is a close second.

I like to take plain chobani or oikos yogurt and the night before I want to eat it, add a serving of frozen blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries to the yogurt and when the fruit defrots, mix it up. It is so delicious and sweet without all that added sugar.

Fage 2% FTW! The texture with a bit of fat is far superior than the fat free IMO.

Greek yogurt is awesome with PB & honey, or thawed frozen berries, with some melted semisweet chocolate, if you want!

I always buy plain so I can add whatever I want. But for flavored, Chobani vanilla is decent, and is a good base for adding other things.

Agreed. I do not like the Fage 0% but Fage 2% is my favorite. The nonfat plain yogurts are way too tangy for me.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
