Will I ever find vitatops in stores??

Quote  |  Reply

Hello I live in Oregon and did a store locator and it pulled up like every Safeway in the area I have been to two well the first I didn't know where to look. Now I know I need to look in the freezer section, the second one I went to didn't have them.  Does anyone from Oregon know where I can find them or should I just order some during the free shipping that HG does once a month?

Make your own black bean brownies, they're cheaper and actually yummier, particularly if you add orange zest and frozen blueberries.

I keep hearing about those bean brownies, I'll have to try them, my problem is I'll wanna eat the whole thing, do they freeze well? I guess I could portion them out and then freeze them...

they are supposed to be frozen until served to begin with

they are individually packaged as 100 cal muffins

Sorry I knew that I was actually referring to the bean brownies that were suggested.

do you have whole foods close by?  how about a super target? That's where i get mine...but I live in texas.

The black bean brownies that I make freeze really well.  Even when I tell people they're made with beans they don't really believe me because they taste so good.

The Safeway I found mine in had them in the organic/gluten free section, not in with the rest of the baked goods.  Don't know why they're in that section, since they're neither organic or gluten free...  But I had looked all up and down the freezer section, and had given up.  Just went to get my wife some gluten free waffles (she can only eat those), and there they were!

The bean brownies look interesting... I may have to try those as well.  And up here in Canada, those VitaTops are more than $1 each, so I might try the brownies sooner rather than later! :)

Vitatops are expensive, I still have a couple left from the box I bought a year ago.  The brownies are incredibly cheap and have a very similar calorie and nutrient content.  Depending on the size of brownie...~40-80 calories each, .5-1g of protein and fiber.

I went to Safeway and guess what I FOUND the Vitatops on sale even but sense I'm at work I didn't buy any cause you gotta put em in the freezer! I'm not goin strait home from work so I can even stop by on my way home...maybe another day.  So here's the more irritating part, I went to get the beans and no pudge brownie mix, did I find it NO, lol guess I'll go to another store and look for Vitatops and instead find the no pudge brownie mix lol.

You don't have to put them in the freezer immediately, they're pretty much like any other baked good in that leaving them out for a couple of hours isn't going to ruin them.  The reason they ship frozen is because they last longer that way.  You can use any brownie mix for the black bean brownies although I think the No Pudge is best.  Ralph's, Trader Joe's and Vons are all places I've seen it at.

Is there a totally-from-scratch recipe for the bean brownies?  I don't like to use cake/brownie mixes.

Here's a link to a bunch of the "from scratch" recipes.

Since the idea is to substitute the oil/butter and eggs for the beans I would think it would work just fine with most regular brownie recipes too.

I was so happy to find these brownies in the freezer at my local Giant (I'm on the east coast). They're tasty, but I was disappointed to find that there were only 4 of them in the box. It would be cheaper and probably easier to just make them from scratch. Applesauce brownies are yummy as well.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
