Are fish and seafood fattening?

I know that whether you lose, gain or maintain weight all depends on how many calories you consume vs. the calories you burn. But generally speaking are fish and seafood fattening? Like in comparison to fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, etc. I imagine that it would be a lot healthier than red meat. I'm used to eating 95% vegan foods. The 5% comes from eating soy cheese that still has casein or the occasional cookie at a potluck, etc.

My mother completely understands me eating tons of veggies, fruits, whole grains, etc. And the fact that I've chosen to eliminate red meat, chicken, turkey, dairy products, etc. But she's still convinced that I need to eat fish and seafood every once in a while. I still haven't decided if I've wanted to but I've told her I may consider if it she's seriously that worried about my health. Although I told her I won't eat the stuff it's fried, I don't think fried foods are healthy or low fat at all.

I also take a multi vitamin each day and that has to help something.

I don't think fish really has any fat, I may be wrong but on my tuna can it says 0.4g fat, less than 0.1 is saturated. Not sure about every fish though
Fish is good and not fattening. I eat lots of salmon. It has tons of omega 3 fatty acids which are healthy.
Most fish, especially shellfish, are extremely low in fat. Even the fattier fish, such as salmon, are full of good fats that help protect your heart and lower your cholesterol.  Plus the protein in fish helps keep you full for long periods of time, and they are easy to prepare without a lot of added calories (i.e., grilling, broiling, baking; using spices for flavor.)  Overall I'd say seafood is a great thing to eat for weight loss.  Plus I think it just tastes great!

Long John Silver's is not diet-friendly ... but not because of the fish, it's the fried breading.

Tuna, salmon, and other fishes are actually very healthy for you and very diet-friendly. Even shrimp can be very diet-friendly.

The key, though, is to prepare fish and seafood in healthy ways (without heavy sauces or deep fried!)

Fish is an essential part of everyone's diet. Some fish have more fat than others (ie: salmon has more fat than cod) but ALL fish are filled with "good fats" like omega-3s! These fats help your body in every way shape & form and the more you get the better!!! I would try & eat fish 3-4 times a week... I eat fish EVERY DAY of the week sometimes 2 times a day! Fish is my life (granted I do eat other proteins too)... Fish just so versitle & has amazing flavor no matter how you make it (although I would advise that you FRY your fish because all those omega-3 fats will be LOST!)

SO please, go to the store and pick up some delicious fillets of fish PRONTO! You will be doing your body a world of good! 

fish is very healthy: high in protein and in healthy fats.  it's also easy to prepare, either fresh or from the can.  what's easier than tossing half a can of salmon in a green salad?  and yum!

shellfish tends to be high in cholesteral, so watch the shrimp, scallops, etc.  the biggest problem, though, is the butter we like to dip them in.

just be wary with prawns as you shouldnt eat too many as theyre bad for your cholesterol

Calories in one piece of boneless grilled chicken breast?

Which would we a better choice? out to eat wise?
