Green Tea makes me hungry

Quote  |  Reply

I just started taking green tea tablets again (I took them for about two weeks in May) and I found that on days that Im taking them, that I am sooo hungry. Does green tea make anyone else hungry? Is this because they are suppose to increase your mestabolism?

**bump**

what exactly is green tea supposed to do anyway? i took them but i didn't even finish the pack because i didn't "feel" it working...but i only drink green tea drinks now so i can't really say that it makes me hungrier

The package only says that it helps supports weight loss and cardiovascular health. I heard though that it boosts your mestabolism.

Funny - i just bought some at CVS today....  Hopefully they help!  AT 1450 a day cals to maintain my weight it is really hard to cut out cals.  1200 only gives me 250 deficit a day, so it is realllly hard to lose weight!

So far I am NOT hungry and it is lunchtime.  I had a 80 cal yogurt from Kroger this morning.  Having BK salad for lunch!

I already do however, biking an hour a day is only 400 cals.... that is top speed - soooo it takes alot, alot, alot of exercise to make up the diff.  That is what I am doing, but add in a single cheat day, and there goes the deficit from exercise.  Last week I had one of those for a wedding I had to attend.... but I  biked for 3 hours the next 2 days.  This weekend I plan on being good!  In winter, I won't be burning that many.

Just a suggestion, but have you tried drinking green tea instead of taking the supplement?  Counts toward your daily water consumption, fills you up, gives you a little caffeine boost -- it's just about a perfect mid-afternoon treat.  Zero calories and I've heard it will boost your metabolism to burn the equivalent of 100 or so extra calories a day.  I try to drink one 16 oz cup a day.

I have tried drinking it. Im not a tea or coffee drinker but I tried it anyway and could not stand the taste. Thats why I bought the supplements.

P.S. where in Canada are you from??

It may be something else in the tablets.  I'm very cynical about supplements (aka "nutraceuticals") because they're considered neither food nor medication and, as such, aren't subject to the same regulations as either food or pharmaceuticals.  What this means in practical terms is that there's no guarantee that the green tea tablets you're taking actually contain enough green tea to do anything.  Worse than that, some batches from a company might while others might not.  Different batches can use different sources and have completely different composition.  Essentially, you just don't know what you're getting.

So, you could try a different brand of tablet and hope for the best, or try drinking the tea again and see if you can acquire a taste for it - or try one of the fruit-green tea blends.  I *love* black currant green tea; it tastes nothing like green tea - just like yummy berries~~

No it totally agree... a mug of hot green tea and Im always hungry in 10min or so, even after a large meal. Its fustrating actually, its the only 'hot drink' that i cant enjoy without then becoming hungry soon after.
