Healthy Indulgences

Quote  |  Reply

So, we all like to indulge occasionally, and a lot of people believe that it is actually good for your metabolism to do so! However, while I'm all about having a weekly cheat meal/desert I also was thinking it would be a good idea to make this indulgence as nutritionally dense as possible. Just think about how many yummy omega-3s, vitamins, minerals, etc you could fit into a meal when you aren't concerned about calories?

I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations or recipes for super nutritious but indulgent meals or deserts? I need ideas!

I like baked bananas.. I split a banana in half, preheat oven to 400,  put honey ( or agave) and cinnamon drizzled on top, put them in the oven for about 10 to fifteen minutes. Sometimes if im feeling OK i'll add lite vanilla icecream (artic zero?) and it tastes like apple pie. Its only about 149 calories, too.

I'd eat a lean burger on whole grain bread with good quality cheese. Haha. And a sweet potato and my favorite roasted vegetables.

-spaghetti squash prepped with garlic salt and good quality parmesan

-86% dark chocolate! I've come to prefer the really dark stuff... and the sugar content is so much lower.

-frozen banana "ice cream" with whipped cream, berries and raw honey

-I love Amy's brand spinach-mozzarella pizza. They're like Digiorno in that you pop them in the oven and that's it, but more nutritious and has a much fresher taste to it. They also make individual sized ones for around 430-440 calories each... I "indulge" every couple of days. (I promise I don't work for them ahaha, I know I'm always going on about their burritos too...)

home-made guacamole (tomatoes, avocado, lime juice, garlic, salt and pepper) with plain nachos.

apple with peanut butter

veggies with hummus

greek yogurt with honey and nuts.

wholewheat pancakes or waffles with fruit(berries) and a bit of organic Maple syrup

Most of those I eat as regular meals and really enjoy ( I won't eat food that I don't enjoy, I usually cut on those I'm indifferent about)
