Healthy Margarine is a joke
Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow colouring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavourings....
DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end...gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories.
Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to5 grams for margarine.
Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.
Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they are added and they trick you with "Now with Omega 3!
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavours of other foods.
Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.
And now, for Margarine..
Very High in Trans fatty acids.
Triples risk of coronary heart disease ...
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers up to five times..
Lowers quality of breast milk
Decreases immune response.
Decreases insulin response.
And here's the most disturbing fact... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients with PAINT ![]()
These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
Open a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:
* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)
* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny micro-organisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?
*there is an off chance a cockaroach will find it, eat it and you will see it in the tub of Margarine he will be dead
Last word all these healthy Margarines with all the additives fish oils and so on may in fact have enough food value to grow molds but I will not waste my money on falvored plastic to test it.

Humans share 50% of our DNA with Bananas. Are we a banana? ;)
I love margarine.
While growing up in my family, we always ate butter and had no margarine in the house, so naturally I prefer butter. But I've noticed among friends that if they grew up eating margarine, they prefer the taste over butter, and they continue to eat margarine, even knowing that it isn't the healthiest thing.
So if you have kids, start them off eating butter, even if you continue to eat margarine. Do the kids a favour!

I grew up in a "margarine household"- but my grandparents were strictly butter people, and it was SUCH a treat to stay at their house and get real, actual, tasty butter on my toast. When I moved into my own digs, I absolutely swore up and down that margarine would never cross my threshold- I hate the stuff. Ugh. When I use it at all (which is rarely, these days) I use a dairy blend- basically butter, but easier to spread.
Do NOT even get me started on "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter". (Really? I CAN!)
Butter all the way.
^this
Always eat REAL natural food as much as possible.
Just say no to brainzzzzzzz.
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC
That is because plastic is made from oil, obviously margarine and plastic will have similar chemical structures. That saying above is like avoid water because it is a molecule away from being hydrogen peroxide.
When it hits hot toast it melts and spreads instantly.
It's better than any butter I've tasted. Use good ripe black truffles.
Haha omg I was embarrassed I thought I actually typed "people". You got me there. -eats brains-
That's because truffle oil is heavenly.

Don't you no that dihydrogen monoxide is toxic?

Well the information I posted was to be helpful. While your comparison is true it is not very helpful.
But I don't think becel margarine is bad for you. It has no transfers and it was approved by the "heart and stroke foundation" or something. There's a label on it. I use it in my baking because it's a LOT cheaper than butter and it taste great in pie crusts lol.
I think everything is ok in moderation :)
