Help with chicken breast calories

OK I'm having trouble figuring out how many calories are in the chicken that I'm making. My mom buys chicken breasts on the bone with the skin. I removed the bone and the skin from the white meat chicken and now that is all that I have. Now here are all the options I see in figuring out the calories:

1) Weigh the chicken, and it's 100 calories (approx) for every 3 ounces.

2) I checked the Daily Plate and CC - and both say that for "chicken breast - bone and skin removed", only half of the breast is 140 calories.

Now you see the dilemma. I weighed it and the chicken (just the chicken) weighs 5 ounces. Should I just use option #1, or should I just say "OK, half a breast is 140 calories, so the entire thing is 280"?

How many oz does daily plate and cc list the breast bone/skin remove?  I would probably just use the average of the two listings and that would be around 223 for 5 oz.
CC lists 1/2 the breast at 86 grams or about 3 ounces. That's why I'm confused because I was always told that plain, white meat grilled chicken breast has 100 calories for every 3 ounces, and both CC and TDP list 3 ounces (1/2 the breast bone and skin removed) at 140. 
Maybe that is for cooked weight?  I know tyson brand fresh/raw chicken is 100 for 3 oz, but ends up weighing less than that once cooked (especially if grilled) and fat has been trimmed too.  Since you are using the raw weight and I am sure you have cleaned and removed all fatty tissue and skin, then I would use the 167.  OR, as I suggested before, the 223 to be on safe side.

My grocery store recently added nutritional labels to their boneless-skinless chicken breast packages. They say 100 cals per 100 g (I think that's about 3.5 oz), and that is RAW weight. When you cook it, you lose some of it's water content, so the calories are a bit higher per g/oz.

So generally it's 100 cals per 100g raw weight, or 140 cals per 100g cooked weight. That would make your 5 oz of raw chicken 148 cals.

That half-breast-whole-breast business is too confusing, I am pretty sure breasts come in all different sizes ;)

Not to sound like a jer or anything, but do you really need to know the EXACT amount of calories in a chicken breast? Most of the stuff here is off either way but only by a couple of calories. You're gonna turn into a counting calorie freak and you'll screw yourself up somehow along that road.

A lot of people, myself included, do not have the innate ability to judge how much food is enough/too much, call it portion control disorder. A really imprtant part of my learning process has been to know the calories in all the food i eat in order to create a healthy balance of macronutrients, and stay within a reasonable calorie amount. That is why i am on a site called Calorie Count. Maybe someday I, and other like me, will eventually become more at ease with guessing, but until then, counting has been a very helpful tool. It's not about knowing exactly to the calorie, but is IS knowing within a very good margin or error, so that someday this will become second nature and counting will become unecessary.

I know you were referring to the OP but I thought I'd throw my answer in there anyway, it really bugs me when people use phrases like calorie counting freak, not to mention suggesting it's an unhealthy habit that will "screw you up". This is a LEARNING PROCESS, so back off and remember where you are.  

acutally broken bones 84 has a good point.  This is where i started, just counting calories to watch what i ate.  I became obsessd with counting calories in everything, EVERYTHING, i ate.  Now i have an ED and trying to recover.  Just be careful.

Yeah I take it back - SOME people, like myself, need to learn about portion control, nutritional values, and calorie counting is a very good method to achieve these goals, while SOME people are simply becoming obsessive and may even develop an ED. But...I may be wrong about this, but it seems to me that calorie-counting in the obsessive sense would be a symtom of an ED, not a cause.

Regardless, it's not a good reason to call people who count calories "freaks", that's just plain rude, especially on a site called Calorie Count, I would think that's obvious but I guess not.
