I drink, typically, merlot or JD and diet coke/pesky max.

JD has 64 a single.

Merlot -

Take a look there.  Red wine is *thumbs up*

And I drink cider.  8.4% abv.  I figure most of the sugar is converted into alcohol, at that high a %.

straight liquor or liquor with something low calorie/non calorie

vodka and diet coke!

I completely agree with this! I have it every time I drink, the only problem is that its easy to drink it really fast...!

I go for either straight vodka, or vodka and diet lemonade.

I think wine is the best option. 5oz pour is the same calorically as a shot of liquor. OR you could do liquor and club soda and mix in a packet of crystal lite OR a mixer with diet soda.

i'm with jen, vodka and diet coke!

Vodka and lemon flavoured tonic. Vodka and most diet sodas is a great low calorie mix.

Not to sound like a moron, but... what's pesky max? :-D

vodka and sugarfree creaming soda, tastes great

Vodka and diet tonic, with a wedge of lime if I have any handy. YUM!

Although nightclubs don't often have this option, so my fallback is usually vodka + lemonade. (Diet drinks are almost unheard of at most of the nightclubs I go to :( some do have diet coke, but I don't drink caffeine)

Voli vodka lyte - on the rocks or with a little bit of lemon. It's 40% less calories than other vodkas. If I drink it on the rocks, I usually get Espresso Vanilla Voli, which is 25% less calories than other vodkas,  but no mixer needed Wink

Hard liquor has no calories other than the alcohol so whether it's Scotch, Bourbon, Vodka, Gin, etc. if it's 80 Proof it has 60 calories per ounce.  The higher the Proof the more calories per ounce and the lower the proof the fewer calories per ounce.  A standard cocktail has one and a half ounces of liquor or 90 calories.  If you use a no calorie mixer then that will be the total calories per drink which is comparable to a light beer or an 8 ounce glass of wine. Flavored liquors often have additional calories besides the alcohol.

I am a hardcore fan of Voli vodkas! It's low calorie vodka. There is NO reason to not be drinking it!

It tastes amazing, it still has a high alcohol content and it has electrolytes which reduces the affect of hangovers!

If you haven't tried it- I HIGHLY recommend it!!

haha, Pepsi Max :D.  My mother calls it Pesky as she gets fed up lugging it around when she brings it to my flat for me (I can't drive and can't carry it the mile from the shops by myself!)

Ha!! Got it :-) I kind of like the word "pesky" anyhow...

Alcohol is fuel and packs a lot of calories or joules, as you prefer, with 7 cals per gram of pure stuff. So in 100ml of 40% vodka (the first quality kind, second quality has about 30-32% alcohol) there are about 280 cals. Add to that various juices and one tall glass of cocktail counts as a meal, energetically speaking.

So the beverages lowest in calories are those that contain just the alcohol and something with sweetener or plain/fizzy water. Add anything  that has nutritional value and it kind of turns into a calorie bomb unless you only consume a spoon of the stuff.

im with most others i drink vodka and diet whatever soda they have

This was a question I had several weeks ago and with doing some research for my needs I found vodka and sugar free redbull to be very tasty and refreshing. I had changed up on my diet for a few weeks to low carbs. and no sugars which has made some difference with my weight loss. Also crystal light is a great mixer.
