Low Sodium, Low Calorie Salad Dressing
I live in a dorm so I love hitting the salad bar. However, I hate the amount of sodium in low fat ranch. My other healthy options are light balsamic vinaigrette (which is more calories than the ranch and a ton of sugar) and balsamic vinegar with salad oil (if I hound the staff to refill it for me). I'll probably start petitioning for olive oil but I doubt they'll get it because of the cost. Everything here is so salty especially if it's low fat. Any ideas about how to avoid sodium?
I just use apple cider vinegar with some stevia mixed into it, or plain balsamic vinegar....I skip the oil when I want to keep it really low calorie.
-squeeze lemon/lime/orange juice on top
-mustard
-salsa
>> load up with lots of flavorful veggies, pickles, olive, hot pepper rings, or a sprinkle of strong cheese like feta... you won't even need dressing!
Choose full-fat dressings. No reason to go low-fat when it comes to salad dressings. Your body needs fats to absorb the vitamins in the salad.
really??
