What alcohol has the least amount of calories in it? Obviously counting my calories, but still like to go out and drink

I know! I know! I actually looked this up one night bcuz I knew I would be having a couple...the answer is rum. Not dark rum but like Bacardi. You can have a Bacardi and diet coke- 60 calories! I originally would have thought vodka but no. White wine is somewhere around 94 cals. Hope this helps...and have a good time!

Hmm, I would've thought vodka too..

But a shot of bacardi and diet coke is only 60?

Woot!

More opinions!?

Rolling Rock light beer - 83 cal. and it's good.

Beck's Premium Light Beer is 64 calories and it's delicious

man. this is good stuff to know.

I obsess over this myself. I'm thrilled about the rum. I've been drinking vodka and coke zero lately. I miss my mudslide, but my ass doesn't.

I found out last night the Skyy Vodka fruit infusions are only 60.

I had the Cherry, with Fresca, SOOO tasty, way better than rum and diet.

an ounce of hard stuff (vodka, rum, whiskey, etc) is around 60, but a shot is usually an ounce and a half.  start there, and choose your mix carefully.

i quite like vodka & club soda with lime.  very refreshing!  but if you like sweet stuff, you're talking to the wrong person.

Unsweetened Ice Tea with Bacardi Raz and some lemons is probably around 60 calories and it is soooo good! (I add 2 splendas to it)

 hahahahaah

ALL alcohol has 7cals/g....be wary with the vodka and rum and what not as they are high in sugar and as mentioned before the mixers will KILL you! If you like beer it's more filling so that may cause you to drink less...hope this helpsSmile

There is conflicting nutritional information everywhere with regards to the calories in alcohol.  I just saw Bacardi Superior listed as 69 calories per ounce.  Based on the fact that alcohol is 7.1 calories per gram, there are 201.28 calories in one ounce of pure (100%) alcohol, so if you plan on drinking moonshine, it is about 200 calories per ounce, 300 for a shot. In addition, since rum is sugar-based it is going to have more calories than Vodka, and according to The Daily Plate, there are 15 more calories per ounce of Bacardi Superior than Smirnoff Vodka.  Hope that helps =).

There is 0.000 sugar in Vodka.  Most, if not all Vodka is now made from grains and is distilled well enough to have only water, ethanol, and a few trace chemicals.

All distilled 80 proof alcohols (vodka, gin, rum, whiskey) contain about 100 calories per shot (1.5 oz), as long as they are not flavored/sweetened.

Wine (real wine, not the sweeter stuff) has slightly more due to about 4-8 cal extra (1-2g extra carbs), depending on color white to red (least to most), not that the slight difference really matters.

A lot of light beers have around 100-110 calories, due to lower carbs and a lot of the time lower alcohol content than their equivalent "regular" beers.

That being said, regular beers usually have upwards of 120 calories depending on alcohol content among other things and can get pretty high in caloric content.

Bottom line: Unflavored vodka, gin, rum, whiskey, with zero cal (or no) mixer/chaser is the best option. If you don't like that go with wine (white is best IMO). If you still don't like that you can go the light beer route (not a great idea IMO as most light beers taste terrible, but I like Corona light the best, I think its like 105 cal).

Oh a couple more things. Some people are saying a shot (of rum, etc.) is only 60 cal, this isn't true. Like one other person already said this is for an ounce, a typical shot is 1.5 oz and almost 100 cal. And about the light beers/premixed "coolers" being 60 - 80 cal, this is because the contain less alcohol and you will most likely have to drink more to feel the same effect. Again thats why distilled alcohol (vodka, etc.) is the best because it contains nothing other than alcohol (probably the main reason you're drinking it) and water (zero cal) and very few other chemicals.

Oh one other thing, in response to cruithear, just something interesting: there are actually quite a few vodkas made from potatoes and many are very good, albeit expensive.

Sake!!! it only has 39 calories per 1oz serving. Also, it is free of sulfites and comaratively free of hangover causing congeners. Premium sake is also free of additives and preservatives :) yay

Other than that...I like vodka with a rockstar :)

I read Champagne actually has the least...

VERY interesting thread..I enjoy white wine myself..on occasion I will have a bacardi and diet coke. Did we get an answer as to the cal's in that flavored vodka..mmm...I may just have to check that out :0)

i actually found out that vodka was made from POTATOES! that can't be good. I usually go for the sugar free breezers or ruski everything in moderation i guess!
