Missing nutrients

Quote  |  Reply

If a diet is composed entirely of

1 Rice

2 Chicken

3 Almonds

4 Bananas

What nutrients are lacking?

Can those nutrients be adequately substituted by mainstream over-the-counter multivitamin supplements such as Centrum along with B vitamin complex and fish oil?

You eat absolutely NO veggies and the only fruit you eat is bananas? Rice, especially white, has very little nutrition.

I'm sure you could make up for the lack of nutrients by taking vitamins but why not just eat more veggies?

If the rice is brown and you substitute broccoli for the banana, it's a potentially well balanced meal. Depends on portion sizes, of course.

For a meal, sure. They said that the "diet is comprised entirely" of those four foods. I don't know about a diet comprise entired of four foods and not a single one is a vegetable.

then

It is extremely boring and devoid of many nutrients.

Ah, I missed that part. In that case, it's definitely deficient (and worrisome... eating only 4 foods every day...)

The total amount of calories for this diet would be  1570 per day, so based on a 1500 calorie diet, tyou would be deficient in the following nutreients for sure ,and possibly more not shown here.

Sodium 215 mg
Too Low
Fiber 24 g
Too Low
Vitamin A 362 IU
Too Low
Vitamin C 41 mg
Too Low
Calcium 306 mg
Too Low
Iron 9.4 mg
Too Low
Potassium 3,060 mg
Too Low

Err, how would you know how many portions ?

It doesn't matter how many portions you eat of each food.  Eating only 4 foods is extremely limiting, especially when one of them offers little nutritional value and eating 1500 calories is also limiting. There's no way to make this into a balanced diet.

I treated each item as 1 portion.

The calories  and nutritional value doesn't change if it is divided into more portions.

why would u compose a diet of just 4 foods, considering, rice, chicken, and bananas are all lacking many nutrients, u certainly would be missing many, its always good to supplement ur diet, but u cant expect the same nutrition from little pills as from whole food.

if u insist on eating only a few foods lets make it a list of 10... bananas chicken rice almonds eggs apples avocados carrots milk spinach

this should cover all ur basics, although may not be perfect

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
