Most beautiful food?!
I'm always on the look out for 'pretty foods'. I love to cook for people and I'm very big on presentation--it's always nice to dive into a healthy as well as a pretty dish. I make lots of vegetable bakes, and recently discovered Watermelon radishes! They are so cute, delicious, and add great color to a dish. What is your favorite 'pretty' food?
If you can find a picture, please link one!

Has to be the globe artichoke.... When prepared properly it's quite a beautiful thing.
beets - love both the colour and the calories!
I personally think angel hair pasta is really pretty with a little bit of marinara over top with some parsley and cheese sprinkled over it. Same with soup :)
kiwis sliced open, strawberries, and big muffins with huuuge muffin tops. :)
this...mousse

i think beets and cranberries add a really beautiful bright red color to a plate. :)

That's what I was going to say when I read the OP...you beat me to it! Artichokes are not only pretty, but also yummy!
This spinach soup. Isn't the colour glorious?!
This is the original post that it's from. I continuously drool over whatever this woman makes. :D
Broccoli Romanesco is awesome it looks like a fractal flower - http://www.growinghappiness.com/wp-content/up loads/2008/04/romanesco_broccoli.gif
I personally think BEAUTIFUL FOODS are any foods I think are DELICIOUS! ha ha!
Hmmm... I like my vegetables, and think that zucchini flowers or chive buds are pretty. Long and slender and curly... kind of like alien fingers :P

You don't necessarily need a "beautiful food" to make something look beautiful. Sometimes it's just a matter of how it is all presented on a plate. It's why a lot of chefs will stack things on a dinner plate. Presentation is key. Studies have shown that when there are 2 dishes (identical), the one with the more pleasing presentation will "taste better" than the one that's just thrown onto the plate.
One of my favorite starter salads (or as a meal) is a ginger mandarin salad. Here is a photo of one I made to go with my MIL's 50th dinner (beef bourginon).
(let me know if the photo doesn't work, it's from my FB account and privacy should be set so everyone can view photo's -- but sometimes FB is lame and doesn't work properly)
A well made fruit tart with lots of color is really pretty.
And there are endless possibilities with creme brulee and flan. I've always wanted to go all out for Thanksgiving one year, and make pumpkin spice creme brulee, but put the custard inside hollowed out mini pumpkins, and decorate the top with iced leaf shaped ginger cookies.
As for a single food item (not a recipe) - aestheitically I really like the look of a nice eggplant - shiny, firm, and a beautiful color. I also particularly like apples when there's a variety of red shades coming through.

That sounds fantastic! Although... I'd be a little wary about taking a blow torch to the top of the pumpkin opposed to a dish :-S hahaha (Hmm.. maybe foil the top of the pumpkin and then blow torch, or maybe even just throw it under a brioler? hmm.. now you got me thinkin'... hahaha.. because that sounds awesome.
Nice long shreds of good parmesan cheese over soups, stews, pasta, etc... mmm. Or sometimes even nice big cracks of fresh pepper ontop of anything, really. I always think simple, rustic meals are pretty though. Like anything Giada makes or ina garten. Always simple and pretty.
Great photos, everyone! I love looking at food, so "beautiful" food is even more fun to look at. I love watching food shows on The Food Channel and The Travel Channel, of course. A lot of beautiful food illustrated on those shows!
One of my favorite things to do as far as making an attractive color arrangement is to combine things like red diced tomatoes; white and/or purple onions; red, green, yellow, orange bell peppers in any combination of colors; brown/black mushrooms; yellow and/or white cheese; green jalapeno peppers; etc. Then I put these on-top of a brown wrap with a red sauce or salsa on it. And usually I bake it. In any case, it is darn colorful and quite healthy eating.

Actually, when presented nicely I think almost all foods look beautiful.
(I dislike meatloaf so much that I don't think I'd ever call it beautiful!)
