NEW Walden Farms 0 calorie peanut butter spread???

Quote  |  Reply

I just went to waldenfarms.com to reorder my beloved balsamic vinaigrette in bulk (can we say addicted?) and saw the most beautiful new sign that says they now have ZERO CALORIE PEANUT BUTTER SPREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost passed out in delight. Of course I ordered it, along with 10 more bottles of my balsamic.

My local grocery store only carries a few walden farms, and this peanut butter is not one of them, and neither is my balsamic! So i'm always forced to order that online and wait and wait and wait for it to come.

I do like (or perhaps have just gotten used to) the chocolate syrup which I use a lot. & also the pancake syrup I love. The other products are kind of hit and miss. I posted about all that before.

I'm anxiously awaiting the peanut butters arrival. I use PB2 now, when I'm having a peanut butter emergency, but would love for this 0 cal walden farms to be fabulous, actually i'd settle for edible.. hahah

Anyone else tried the w.f. - p.b. yet???

I am going to Florida on winter break, coming up in a few weeks, and I was just wondering if anyone here knew if they carry Walden Farms products at Publix?
Seriously, I think that in a few years new studies will show that all these 0 calorie over processed foods are soooooo bad for us.  I don't eat them at all, although I've seen Walden farms stuff online, and I was tempted to buy.  Then I thought it better and decided against it.  I am sure my body is thanking me.  It's better to show self control and eat less of the real thing instead.

Sounds a bit like people telling me to not drink diet drinks with aspartame in them, because it's a "chemical" and not natural and so bad for me, and will give me cancer. I love showing them this link: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/ Risk/artificial-sweeteners

What is PB2?  I looked at the website, but I still don't have a clear idea of what the product is.  Does it contain real peanuts?  I would love a lower calorie peanut butter, but I still want all of the protein.
great link godoics :)

I bought the chocolate dip at Luckys. It was in the section of diabetic foods because it's sugar free. Now I haven't experimented with it too much yet, but the taste on its own is just okay. kind of strange. but i agree that it tastes better when combined with other things. I got those little 100-cal pack shortbread cookies, spread a tiny bit of peanut butter, and then topped it with the walden farms chocolate spread and it was super good. So yeah. I think it would also be really good in smoothies, in oatmeal, mixed with a banana and peanut butter to make a pudding, in ice cream, i dont know. I'm excited to experiment with it some more.

I haven't read many good things about the edibility of the PB spread. Take a look at the reviews on lowcarbgrocery.com:

pb2 is powdered peanuts basically i think, you mix two tablespoons of the powder with one tablespoon water and it makes this creamy peanut butter spread. it's REALLY REALLY good. i ordered some awhile back and am very pleased (: 54 cals, 4.5g protein for every 2 tbsp

ooooh! thank you!  I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE all the 'you're going to kill yourself with diet stuff' around here. drives me nuts!!!! my body - my choice.

alright- so it came in the mail today. that was speedy! (& cheap(er) - got it through netrition.com this time)

so i ripped it open to taste it immediately. it's not bad. i don't hate it. of course it's not as fabulous as real peanut butter, but as I said before we all know NOTHING GOOD CAN EVER BE REPLACED. I would definitely buy it again. And I will use it IN things, since as with all these walden farms products they are better IN things.  I spread it on a tea biscuit and it was good. I thought it tasted a bit salty but the sodium is less than real peanut butter (I compared) so it could just be that I never use salt or eat salty things so could just be my tastebuds. But again that was when I tasted it straight from the jar. It's definitely a different consistency than real peanut butter, a lighter whipped texture which I kind of like. I think it would make a good pb&j sandwich. & like mollymouser said mixing it with real peanut butter may very well be a great way to cut the calories in half yet still get the full flavor of peanut butter.

oh and for the record---- just because people are looking for zero calorie or low calorie options does not mean we are going to sit in the corner and stuff our faces eating boatloads of it.  Some of us do know the value of food - and are simply looking for ways to add high calorie things that we enjoy (or once enjoyed) which don't fit into our caloric intake on a typical day.  I'm mid-range in the "healthy" weight for my height and i'd like to stay that way. I have a SUPER slow (non-existant) metabolism and have a very restricted daily food intake so I don't have any room for "extra calories", so these products help me enjoy food again. Bugs the crap out of me how judgemental and/or holier than thou so many people can be around here.

Its basically just water, splenda stuff, & flavoring... Not the healthiest of options, but whatever.

Until reading that Im thinking somebody is lying on their labels LOL but that does seem possible.

I love Walden Farms~ However this pb is far from pb! Its very weird, salty pudding and I thought I  was gonna have to chuck it in the garbage I couldn't get used to it at all! But I was surfing the net and came across some reviews and in the reviews I learned this: Dump it all out into a bowl add 2 TBS. of Natural "real" PB, add splenda to taste Note: I also added 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and about 10 drops liquid stevia toffee flavored. Then I put it back into the pb container. And it was much, much better actually very good! I only added 6 calories per Tablespoon! I'd rather have 6 yummy calories than 0 discusting calories! Hope everyone reads this before they throw it away!

IT TASTES AWFUL

and I cannot emphasize it anymore. I can't believe they are even allowed to sell the product. It is downright in humane. Tastes nothing like peanut butter. God awful. Do not let them get anymore profit from this product. DISGUSTING.

I found it to be so terrible that I wrote them a letter and got my full refund.

I bought the Walden Farms Peanut Butter Spread today at my grocery store. When I got home I opened and smelled it. I found it had a faint peanut butter smell, but it also smelt like chemicals. I still haven't tried it though. I'm a bit skeptical because of the reviews I've heard. I was thinking about using it in a peanut sauce for a stir-fry. The main reason I bought it was to have it on a peanut butter and jam sandwich or to mix it in with my oatmeal. I'm not sure if it would taste good though.

What have you guys used the peanut spread in?
Is there something you did to it to make it edible on it's own, or does it taste fine by itself?

How do they make all those "calorie free products" ?????????????

I was wondering the same thing...hmm, seems a bit too good to be true if you ask me...

It does contain trace calories though...... so just don't eat the whole jar lol :D   but if you eat the serving size its a negligible amount.

p.s. i don't like walden farms 'food'.... for no particular reason other than i personally think it tastes icky :P

I'M obsessed with this spread!

I'M obsessed with this spread!

ohhh soooo DISGUSTING. I bought it because I saw it at my local grocery store. SO SO SO SO GROSS.

On the bright side ..It totally turned me off peanut butter Yell (a food i used to binge on)

This stuff is so disgusting! It tastes nothing like PB. I thought their caramel spread was ok. but this stuff is just nasty! Try PB2 or just portion control low fat PB (like the Naturally More brand).

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
