peanut butter
Which peanut butter is the best to use when trying to lose weight? I LOVE PB and I dont want to give it up because of the fat content! What kind do you use?
I use Smucker's Natural creamy PB. It has two ingredients: peanuts and salt.
I know the salt is unnecessary but it doesn't add that much sodium to the PB and it's readily available in all stores around here.
ETA: There's nothing wrong with fat. It's good for you and an essential nutrient. While a high fat content means higher calorie content, you can get away with less of it and feel satisfied. I usually eat 1-2 tablespoons per day.
I agree with the PB2. I love this stuff. I just bought the chocolate kind and love it, too! It's often my after dinner snack, just a tablespoon or two to satisfy my sweet tooth. At 45 calories and 1 gram of fat I'd say it's a pretty guilt free dose of the nightly chocolate I crave!
Most peanut butters are about the same calories as each other, but I usually go for organic and/or natural brands, such as full circle organic, greenway organic, smuckers natural, and jif natural peanut butter <<<all ordered from best to worst-tasting.
Have you ever tried almond or cashew butter? It's more expensive, but they both taste really good so I buy them occasionally. Almond butter is about the same # of cals as regular peanut butter, but cashew butter is about 20-30 cals less per serving(doesn't really add up unless you eat a lot of it though).
Just an FYI--Jif Natural has palm oil and sugar added to it. That may not be an issue for you but I'm not a fan of it.
Oh. That's probably why taste-wise, it's my least favorite of the ones I listed! xD It does taste a little too sweet
I'm a fan of the smuckers all natural peanut butter. It's wonderful on fuji apples. A trick I've learned is to open it and pour off the oil. Then mix it up and stick it in the fridge. You will reduce some of your calories that way. Calorie count is kinda high, but a servicing is 2 tablespoons which is actually a lot of pb depending on what your eating. I usually only use 1 table spoon for a whole apple or a sandwich.

I tried taking the oil off of several different kinds of natural PB in the past, and I'd never do it again xD It usually makes it end up as solid as a rock :S

PB2-only 42 cals per 2tbs serving And Better n peanut butter-85 percent less fat then regular pb and only 100 cals per 2tbs serving
This stuff is delicious! It's powdered, so you add enough water to get whatever consistency you want. It's kind of pricey, but it will last a long time if you're the only one using it. I just got a supply of it delivered yesterday and I'm sure you can guess what I'm having for lunch! With sugar free grape jam and Nature's Own Light Honey Wheat bread, I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that only has about 150 calories, which is less than the calories in the peanut butter alone if you use the regular stuff!!
I just use Skippy's creamy.
