pineapple and milk make me sick? :S

Quote  |  Reply

I was feeling completely fine, i then thought, "oh, pineapple, that needs using up before it goes off and i fancy something fresh" *eats lots of pineapple* "hmmm...now im thirsty" *notices banana milkshake powder* "hmmmmm!" *grabs soya milk, pours a glass, adds a couple tsp of banana powder, drinks*

(TMI WARNING!)

then litrally as i was halfway through drinking i felt suddenly very very sick. I rushed up stairs, and was sick. But i felt like half my days worth of food came up, i was there ages! so...

1. Does high acidic food + milk or milk substitutes straight after = bad mix and a no no that i should avoid in fututre, because i felt fine before hand and had been eating fine

2. My throat is now abit sore and scratchy, and nifty ideas for things to make this better.

thanks for reading and sorry for grossing you out :/

I don't know about why it made you sick, but you could rinsing your mouth out for a while with warm water.  After that, gargle with baking soda.  Avoid brushing your teeth for a little bit also.

yeah, acid curdles milk, you wouldnt drink orange juice with milk either...yuckkyyy lollllllll.:)

If you want to see what happens, try taking a couple of ounces of milk in a glass, and adding lemon juice. That's why you felt sick so soon after.

You should separate large amounts of acidic food and milk-type products by at least an hour if possible.

Now if the milk is already curdled, as in cottage cheese, then it goes fine with pineapple.

Fresh pineapple and kiwi contain an enzyme that breaks down protein.  That's why you don't see these fresh fruits combined with milk/dairy products in recipies.  Canned pineapple is OK as the heat from the canning process destorys the enzyme.

That same enzyme is why pineapple or kiwi fruit in a jelly(UK)/jello(US) will stop it setting.

(Whatever wally in the US decided to rename "jam" to "jelly" wanted shooting - BEFORE they did it)

lol, i did seem like a weird combo at the time, i just wasw craving them :S

thankyou very much, i never usually drink milk type products anyway so shouldnt be a problem in the future, thanks guys :)

I never had a problem with orange or pineapple smoothies (with milk in them). :o

Is it because they were together?

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
