is shrimp bad?
mmm, regular old plain cooked shrimp get an A-. So, it probably depends on the preparation.
Shrimp is high in cholesterol apparently, and I think that is why some of the ratings are bed, especially if someone imput the foods cholesterol and not the nutrients.
Also, the cholesterol limit on here is a pet peeve of mine since it is now well established that dietary cholesterol does not raise blood cholesterol levels. I cant get an A on a day I've had eggs for breakfast which is absurd.

You bring up an excellent point about cholesterol in food not necessarily translating into cholesterol in our blood. However, there are many reputable sites that suggest for a significant number of people, they should monitor their food cholesterol. My recommendation is that people get blood work done at least once a year to check their cholesterol levels and then follow their doctor's advice. Since my cholesterol levels are relatively low, I don't worry about the cholesterol in the food I eat.

About shrimp.
I feel that the following represent some relatively healthy ways to eat shrimp:
- In a lettuce or veggie salad.
- As a topping on whole-wheat pizza crust.
- Cocktail shrimp (most cocktail sauces are low in calories).
- In stir-fry.
- With some tomato-based spaghetti sauces on pasta.
Not as healthy ways to eat shrimp, in my opinion:
- Battered and deep-fat fried.
- Cooked in heavy butter such as shrimp scampy.
- Included in high-calorie seafood Alfredo sauce on pasta.
- In some sort of high-sodium, high calorie bisque or soup.
BTW: CC gives shrimp an A- for "Shrimp, Mixed Species."
Shrimps and Prawns are protein and pretty much not much else - in and of themselves yummy little things and not bad for you. However dependent on how you cook them and all that nasty dressing that gets piled on them - that's where your D's and E's are coming from.
Shrimp is very good for you! It's a wonderful source of high-quality protein. It just depends on how you make them. If you fry them or cover them in butter or a creamy sauce, then of course they're bad for you. But if you grill them, lightly sautee them, or have them as shrimp cocktail, they're very healthy!
Yes, another good way to enjoy healthy shrimp.
6. Put them on skewers (I prefer using wooden ones), lightly marinade them, or just sprinkle on some olive oil and your favorite spices and grill them. Yummo!
Dang! All of you have made me hungry for some shrimp. Wish I had some at the moment.
I do the same as Shane, I marinade mine in olive oil and garlic and grill them on wooden skewers. Deliciousness.

Correct. Only issue as others have mentioned is cholesterol - shrimp should be avoided if you have high cholesterol.
