Is it okay to splurge a bit?

Quote  |  Reply
Just need some quick reassurance.

So monday I had a steak sandwich w/ bbq sauce, which I felt very guilty about.

Todays my birthday and I already had a small frappucino, and was planning to have sushi and a bit of cake at my party tonight, but after the sandwich thing, I feel guilty kind of.

It all fits into my calorie allowance, but I am a bit worried about it since its not all very healthy. I just need some quick reassurance that eaing the bbq sauce monday and having some not uber healthy food today wont make me bloat up, make me look un-toned, and make me lose my 4 pack.

Sorry for the stupid question, but please tell me if it is okay or not

It's fine especially if it fits into your calorie allowance. Eating some unhealthy food is not going to immediately make you obese, and it definitely won't if it fits into your calorie allowance.

It is okay. Even if you "bloat", drink more water, work out and it will go away in a couple of days. I had a huge 4pcs of fried chicken dinner a few days ago and the next day I bloated like crazy but as of two days ago, the bloat is gone and my weight's back to where it was.

You shouldn't worry about making up for a treat the next day.  Just move on and start a new day.  Although I wouldn't consider a BBQ sandwich that fit in your calorie goals a treat.   Also, its your birthday you should enjoy without guilt.

If you only eat "healthy" things you might end up feeling deprived and then eat too much sometimes.  Its good to allow for some less than perfect healthy food.

You might bloat because of extra salt but extra water and time will take care of that.

It's only about caloric intake, not the kind of food you eat that determines weight change. Don't feel guilty

Y E S !

Don't freak out about sauces. Look at whats in them, its really not that big of a deal.

Eat fun stuff on your birthday, just make sure you get things of nutritional value in your diet. Its fine to go over your calorie amount as long as you get the proper nutrition with the extra stuff.

The only person with an answer to your question is you.

See how your body responds.  In my own experience,

those treats turn into habits, or start to make the scale

tick upward.  I have to be hardcore about dieting--so my

treats have to be healthy, or my weight creeps back up.

However, your metabolism might be better than mine.

So, just watch the results, and listen to what your body

tells you!

Wise words Jardin..

For me I am not able to splurge because it will send me in a whirlwind, so I choose not to take that one bite or splurge at all.  If I cannot see the calories on the item I choose not to eat it.  !!!  But for some people they can take that one bite or eat it once in awhile and be ok with that.  =)

You need to chill out.  You're super active and skinny as hell.  Of course you get hungry and eat a lot.  You're fine.
