Quote  |  Reply

So tonight I am going to ether have a baked sweet potato, or a regular one. Maybe even both! xD But sadly we ran out of salsa Undecided What are some other things I can top a potato with? I never tried a sweet potato before so that will be also a new experience. So if someone could tell me what top a potato with thats pretty good that would be great! :D

I like to bake sweet potatos with a little olive oil.  I don't top them with anything because they are so delicious all by themselves.  I have tried honey before and that was pretty tasty...with some cinnamon!

Thanks, I'll give it a try. (:

I love to put peanut butter and cinnamon sugar on sweet potatoes.

Sweet potato: cinnamon sugar or brown sugar

Baked potato: depends on if it's the main meal or a side

side: salsa, sour cream, chives, margarine

main meal: chili, cheese and broccoli

On a regular potato - plain yogurt instead of sour cream, or a little grated parmesan cheese and Italian seasonings.

On a sweet potato - nada! Sure, they're tasty w/butter and brown sugar, but they're honestly so tasty by themselves that I never top them with anything when I eat them baked.

However, baked sweet potato fries with a little seasoned salt or cajun spices are really good.

I put fat-free Ranch dressing on my regular baked potato.  Usually brown sugar or plain sweet potato.

Thanks for the ideas everybody! Also you guys are right, nothing is needed on the sweet potato! So good, I actually perfer them over regular ones (:

I was always afraid of cottage cheese but it's amazing on a sweet potato. Especially with some black pepper. I'm addicted.

But you're right, they are really good on their own as well.

white potato: butter, salt and pepper; cheddar cheese; bacon bits

sweet potato: cinnamon; honey

these are my fave toppings, tho usually i don't put anything on my baked potatoes and i eat the skin

Try a twice baked potato once: bake the potato; take it out of the oven and slice in half long ways; scoop out the potato and put it in a bowl; mash the potato with a little butter or milk or sour cream, S&P, shredded cheddar and bacon bits; spoon the mixture back into the skin and return to the oven for 15 more minutes...try this at least once

I like low-fat cottage cheese and broccoli = )

I had a little baked potato for lunch today.. topped with a small can of baked beans in tomato sauce... yummy...

A great Weight Watchers recipe inspired me to top my sweet potatoes with fat free vanilla yogurt and some pumpkin pie spice. it's awesome!

here's the link to the entire recipe.

on a sweet potato I put a small bit of butter and pecans, I like the idea of a little cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice as that would complete the sweet potato/pecan pie taste! If baked in an oven til the juices caramelize I find them sweet enough as they are, so I don't add anything to sweeten them.

On a regular potato I use plain yogurt and salsa. Always buy extra salsa so you don't run out!

for the sweet potato i like almonds honey and cinnomen, marshmellows are good to, for the regular potatoe i like sour cream, cheddar cheese, pepper and broccli, i heard of people that put cottage cheese on there potatoe never tried it thoguh~erica

I put barbecue sauce and hot sauce on my sweet potatoes. Also you definitely do not need an apostrophe in the word potatoes. Or any plural word.

I've topped it with chili before but I never thought about adding cheese! YUM!

I put 1%cottage cheese with salt and pepper

sweet potato needs nothing, but bake it with the skin on and coat it with olive oil, it cooks perfectly! Maybe just a little butter.

Old thread! I like topping mine with almond butter or salsa or plain Greek yogurt or cinnamon.

Cinnamon and almond butter is delicious
