Tried Fruits till noon, this is what i think...

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys I tried fruits till noon, not cause I want to lose weight but to see if it helps me feel even better then i do now..result..BLOOD SUGAR CRASHES..your hungry often untill noon and throughout the day..I do not recomend it. plus i was thinking about my pancreas and thought of how much harder it must work while i eat 3 or four fruits, full of sugar. I know the sugar is natural but it still makes your pancreas work harder, so I basically hate fruit and sugar at the moment~erica ps. its a damn myth that it helps your body in the elimination process, today i ate a healthy normal breakfast, and verything came out just fine!!

Sounds like the Fit For Life Diet where you had to eat foods only at certain times and in certain combinations such as no proteins with starches -- total fraud and waste of time.

I eat all fruits for breakfast, except I also eat about 1-2 ounces of nuts.  This adds 7 g of protein and the fat/protein helps keep you full till lunch time.

I eat all of my RDA of fruits and vegetables over the course of the day, then everything else in the evening and at night.  Works great for me.

I'm sitting here with my can of pears and bucket-o-raisins while reading this. Fortunately, this is only my first day of trying the fruit-only thing (and I imagine the last, for a while at least). I know I am setting myself up to get totally blasted by saying this, but what the heck: I'm actually starting day 1 of the 7 day GM Diet. It's my first "diet" EVER and is not the beginning of some yo-yo diet, so put away your insults. I eat healthy daily and run and do pilates at least 4 times a week so this is not some short-term weight loss goal inspiring me to do so either. Rather, I have several friends (also healthy & active) try this when they hit a plateau in training and it really seemed to give their system a boost. I am in no way advocating this plan, just simply saying I feel your pain. Especially since I don't particularly care for fruit in the first place. (Tomorrow is veggie day though, so then it will all be good!!) I basically eat the same foods that are on the plan throughout the course of a week anyway, just not in the arrangement they have it (i.e.-all fruit one day, all veggies one day, etc) so the only change for me is the lack of variety in a day. This is only a 7 day thing though, so whether it works or not, nothing lost. I like das1988's idea of getting all the recommended amounts of fruits & vegetable throughout the course of the day, then everything else at night. Das: do you find you have a mid-day crash at all? What do you do for protein?

I have never heard of this diet! What is it called?? GM? What does that stand for? Does it work? Is it a way of life or a short term type of diet? Thanks in advance for the info! : - )

It's basically an urban legend. The myth goes that back in the 80s, the General Motors Board of Directors distributed this one week diet plan to improve the health of their employees. It's meant to cleanse your system, but in a healthier, more balanced way than just a liquid diet, or something equally dangerous. That being said, it's still a myth. General Motors denies anything related to the diet and most people believe the rumor got started from the abbreviation for "genetically modified" being GM. Regardless, I'm on day one and it is extremely hard. I just got home from work and weighed myself and I'm down one pound since this morning. On the down side though, I'm drained of energy and am skipping running today (which I normally would do eating my normal diet). I knew just looking at the diet though that today would definitely be the worst from me (being that I don't care for fruit but love vegetables). I'm hoping tomorrow is much easier. Otherwise, I won't be able to make it through the whole week! Here's a link to the version of the diet I'm doing:

I am not advocating this to anyone. Just something I'm going to try based on a few friends' results. I'll keep you posted on my progress!

it is not a mid day crash, i eat healthy and i work, im not overweight i just tried the fruits till noon to see if it helps me feel better cause supposedly it is suppose to make to feel great. i now beleive that the reason people lose weight on this is cause it reduces overall calories. as for the crash what i mean is fruit does not fill you up. before i tried this i had a problem with even getting hungry, i tried it for three days and i think eating a fruit, or 2 or three is to much sugar, yes its natural but you feel like eating a hour later, you overwork your pancreas (im guessing), and all that energy is probably a big sugar high..  another thing i could not sleep last night!! i mean as long as u eat whole foods i dont see y u should only eat fruit~erica

supposedly its suppose to help your elimination cycle, but i dont see people eating healthy having problems pooing, or having blood sugar crashes all morning so i don't think its a good idea..~erica

Nope, I don't eat fruit... too much sugar... too many digestive problems result...

It's good to test things out to see for yourself though because everyone functions differently.

It's a variation of the`cabbage soup diet.

Okay, so day one went miserably. By lunch time I was already starving and shaky. I ate another apple but still no resolve. By the time I got home from work the shakiness and weakness was unbearable. I usually eat healthy throughout the day, then when I get home from work I go for a run and eat a light dinner. Yesterday I was lucky to even climb the stairs up to my bedroom. While I lost a pound overnight (probably mostly water weight), this "diet" just doesn't work for me. Firstly, I felt like I was starving my body of the nutrients it needed. Secondly, it was pretty counteractive. While I ate less calories for breakfast and lunch, I lacked any energy so I skipped my usual exercise. Also, by the time it was time for dinner, I was starving and binged on some unhealthy food just because it was the first thing I could find. So fewer calories for breakfast and lunch, but no exercise and terrible dinner. You do the math on that one.

I will say though that my mom started the diet yesterday as well and hasn't had any of the side effects I experienced. She's even lost 3 pounds (we'll see how much of it she gains back after the 7 days). I think alot of this depends on your size and how much you need to lose. If you are already within your healthy BMI but just want to lose a couple of pounds, this probably isn't the way to go. If you have a good bit to lose, maybe it could work. As for me, I'll be sticking to my routine of a healthy diet and regular exercise and leave this diet to the birds! :)

I didn't know there was a diet based only on fruit but I happened to eat only fruit instead of dinner or breakfast and it's not that bad unless you plan on working out. Depends on the fruit I guess, apples, watermelons and oranges for example do not help the hunger but bananas, plums and grapes do the trick, at least for me.

it isnt a only fruit diet, its a concept that eating fruits untill noon helps your body detox, but i don't like this concept cause it just makes me really hungry~erica
