I have a birthday party every year, and one of the big things from that party is always the cake. Thus, I have decided that I will make or buy a cake. In previous years, if I was on one of my "diets" I just had a cheat day. This year has to be different. On my birthday, I'm going to delegate, and allow myself one piece of my cake (or more if that is even possible).
Now, to get to the point I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any cakes with generally low calorie counts. I just went to a birthday party and my friend had German chocolate cake. I had no idea it had so many calories in it! Anyway, thanks for the help.
Angel food cake!
According to the above link, 1/12 of a cake(12 oz) is 72 cals!
I second the Angel Food Cake!
But, if you want something that tastes richer you could alter your recipe! Hungry Girl has some great swaps with box mixes. Instead of eggs and oil for the wet ingredients you can use canned pure pumpkin, applesauce, low fat/ff yogurt or even diet soda.
Here is a link to the basic Hungry Girl chocolate pumpkin cake:
Also, I found this website with a list of a bunch of low calorie cake recipes.
And if you still can't find what you want you can always find a recipe you like and google the butter/egg substitute conversions (I think its a 1:1 ratio for oil and applesauce).
Hope that helps and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :-)
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
