Ugh... Stupid Candy!
I gave in to temptation and had ONE hershey's kiss... who knew that one measly little kiss has 23 calories. So, I know that's not a lot, but still... I LOVE hershey's kisses... I mean, seriously, who doesn't!? Lol... anyway, that was my late night rant for tonight.
Goodnight everybody! Pleasant dreams!

Aww, 23? Heck, you probably burned that off putting the wrapper in the bin :)
Yesterday, I saw easter eggs on sale and got a Mars egg for 24 cents. 108 calories. Now THERE was a mistake. But it tasted yummy. And the others on sale were 210 calories, and not much bigger. HOW? The mind boggles.

I was going to dip into my bag of hershey kissables (the candy coated
mini-kisses). I saw, 39 was 210 calories. Well, 39 sounded
like a lot, so I counted them out into a bowl.. when they're that
small, it really wasn't a lot.. not even a handful! I put them
back and had a couple of regular hershey kisses instead. Much
more satisfying!
If you really want a piece of candy, why is it the end of the world if you have a peice of candy? I believe in moderation, not self denial. As long as you didn't go crazy and start eating a ton of candy I don't think it is an issue. Let yourself eat a piece of candy and really savor it every once in a while. Life isn't worth living if you deny yourself the simple pleasures.
I agree with kory23. The more you deny yourself the simple pleasures, the more you will end up splurging in the long run. Does anyone like dark chocolate? Lindt makes a really dark chocolate for 50 calories a square and the square is pretty big. You have to really like dark chocolate though because it's 85% cocoa. It's called Excellence.
Lol. Kory23 and Nadiav, I get what you're saying about not denying myself simple pleasures (ie: candy)... I wasn't complaining about the calories in the candy... I was just stating that I didn't know there were so many cals in it. For one kiss I could have eaten like a handful of baby carrots. Whatever, anyway, what my point was (i think) that I never used to put into prospective what I was putting into my body. Before I started CC, I would have eaten like 10 of those bad boys, lol.
Gosh, I love chocolate!
Gosh, I love chocolate!
Well kudos on the perspective then! I think that is the best part of tracking calories is when you learn enough to realize how big of a mountain of veggies you get for the same calories that are in a small candy bar. That said, sometimes the candy is still worth it.
Nadiav, I LOVE dark chocolate. The richer the better. And I am thankful because generally the dark is much better for you than the milk chocolate.

Here's how I look at candy (now) ...
I never eat it anymore, and I used to put away anywhere from 5 to 15 Dove pieces a night (and that was after raiding the ever-present bags at the office of mini Snickers, Kit Kat, etc.)! I truly, honestly, do not have a taste for sweets at all anymore. I just lost my sweet tooth, I guess.
However...
I figure the day will come when I just want some chocolate. Since it's not a regular thing for me, I won't think twice about buying the truly high quality stuff (i.e., Neuhaus), because it's not a regular thing at all. And I won't think twice about the calories in it either, because that stuff is, like, $50/lb., so I'm buying ONE truffle. :-)
