Biggest loser Season 12 challenge group!!
So the new season of biggest loser is upon us, ababehschick had an awesome Idea, Lets try a challenge following the biggest loser. It works like this
Find your age group and follow their team percentages for the week. since trying to keep up with their percentages would be crazy, shoot for 1/4 of their team percentages.
Example: I am 27, therefore i'm in the young group, so their percentage was 4.31 divided by 4 thats 1.01% for the week!
Some weeks will be more, and some will be less :)
week 5! (i'm finally on the right week, sorry all)
Blue- your goal this week is 0.67%
Red- Your goal this week is 0.63 %
Black- you have two options
&nb sp; whole team- your goal is .72%
or
&nb sp; Sunny's %, your goal will be 1.45% (this option because sunny rocked it and saved the whole team and only her weigh in counted.)
You can do it!!!
Come join us!
Reason: Moved to Games and Challenges Forum
Last week weight = 163.2
10/19/11 - 162.6 (-.6lbs)
I didn't lose 1.2 for my goal, but I am still happy that it was a loss. I didn't get a chance to watch last night, so I don't know what my goal is for next week, but I will check back later and find out.
Starting weight: 180.6 (Required loss of 1.7% or 3.1 lbs)
9/28/11 wt: 178.4 (Loss of 1.2% or 2.2 lbs... not too bad for a week!)
10/5/11 wt: 176.0 (Loss of 1.35% or 2.4 lbs)
10/12/11 wt: 177.8 (GAIN of .9% or 1.8 lbs!)
10/18/11 wt: 175.8 (Loss of 1.13% or 2 lbs)
** I DID jog and entire 5k without walking, throwing up or passing out AND I did it in less than 35 minutes... my goal was run MOST and finish in under 40 minutes - so YAY!**
Next week's goal: .72% (1/4 of 2.86% lost by black team this week) or 1.27 lbs
ALTERNATE GOAL: 1/4 of the percentage that counted (Sunny's) which would be: 1.45% (1/4 of 5.81% lost by Sunny this week) or 2.55 lbs
okedoke! so after getting caught up on the show. finally. I feel like I can post again.
CW: 219.2 (I'm under 220 for the first time in a LONG time)
I'm super excited by this and really happy with it. 4 lbs rocked it.
For next week I'm going to take the alternate and go with Sunny's percentage. 1.45% it is which for me would be 3.17lbs. super ambitious, but I'm totally down for it! 216 here I come!
Awesome Job Betsyt on the 5k!!!
The end of next week is the warrior dash, i'm super excited and kinda scared. lol.
I would LOVE to do a warrior dash (or something similar). Someone at my 5k was wearing a warrior dash t-shirt.
I haven't gotten the nerve or found the right event yet, though... in Indiana, you really don't want to be crawling through the mud when it's 50 degrees! LOL
Good luck - can't wait to hear how you do!
I'm excited! I spent so long waiting to do these things that I was going to do after I was thing, I decided i'm not waiting anymore. My husband and my friend and I are doing it and we may not come in first but we wont come in last.
I'm not waiting for my life anymore. otherwise i'll just be stuck in this weight-loss crazyness and not have a life when i'm done loosing weight.
Updates for this week:
Starting weight: 180.6 (Required loss of 1.7% or 3.1 lbs)
9/28/11 wt: 178.4 (Loss of 1.2% or 2.2 lbs... not too bad for a week!)
10/5/11 wt: 176.0 (Loss of 1.35% or 2.4 lbs)
10/12/11 wt: 177.8 (GAIN of .9% or 1.8 lbs!)
10/18/11 wt: 175.8 (Loss of 1.13% or 2 lbs)
10/26/11 wt: 176.0 (GAIN of .11% or .2 lbs)
**I am entering this with a caveat that I weighed in at 173.4 yesterday (which would have been a total of 1.37% or 2.4 lbs - almost my alternate goal) and between 173.6 & 174.4 for Friday Saturday and Sunday of this past weekend... so I'm not sure what the 3 lbs over night last night is (possibly ttotm), but I am hoping and expecting for this to be VERY temporary!**
Next week's goal: .41% (1/4 of 1.63% lost by black team this week) or .72 lbs
^ That being said, I would like to see 3.47 lbs (or close to it) to make up for the amount I gained, plus the amount I SHOULD have lost last week AND this week's goal. If the gain overnight was truly as temporary as I am hoping it was, it just might be doable. Either that, or I would like the okay to re-set the numbers if the weight is back off tomorrow to reflect the pounds lost last week and ONLY concentrate on next week's goal...
ALSO - to help folks out since the biggest loser was concentrating on total pounds lost by the entire group this week instead of percentages by team, I did the math and it breaks down like this:
Blue Team: .46% (1/4 of which is .12%)
Black Team: 1.63% (1/4 of which is .41%)
Red Team: 1.24% (1/4 of which is .31%)
I suppose you could go for 3.8 lbs based on the pounds-based challenge presented this week (the total weight lost by the group divided by the number of people in the group - at the time 10) rather than a percentage, but it is pretty difficult and not necessarily healthy...
Last week Weight - 162.6
10/26/11 - 162.8
I am up .2lbs, but with it being my birthday weekend, I consumed way over maintenance every day this weekend. Going out for dinners, movies, and drinks made it very hard to think about calories. My goal for next week is .5lbs, but I would also like to lose the .2 that I gained this week. I would be thrilled with a 1 pound loss for the week.
hey! sorry i had a funeral to attend and just got home, I haven't watched the show yet, but I will update tomorrow.
BetsyT- YOU ROCK! Thank you SO much for compiling and posting the stats and taking the time to calculate it all out by team. You rock so much!!!
I'm not sure if I lost anything, this weeks been crazy with travel and I forgot my running shoes, we'll see!! I did do better with stress related eating, so even if I didn't lose any, i'm happy I didn't give in to stuffing my face. small victories.
just found this would love to join :)
i would be in the red team so i guess my percentage of the week is 0.41% hopefully will be able to do that :)
What a fun idea! I am a huge fan of public accountability.
I'm En, age 31 (go Black! Although, when did I become middle aged???).
Current weight is 146, so my goal for this week is 1 pound, if my calculator skills are good.
I may have missed it, but what day are "official" weigh ins?
11/2/11 wt: 172.8 (Loss of 1.82% or 3.2 lbs)
Next week's goal: 1.23% (1/4 of 4.15% lost by black team this week) or 2.12 lbs
ALT GOAL: 1.64% (1/3 of 4.15% lost by the black team this week) or 2.83 lbs
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
This week, the teams changed. They are no longer separated by age group and people have completely switched team colors in many cases. Which I suppose means if you were on the red team here, but blue is your favorite color - you could have the opportunity to swtich now. BUT whatever team you switch to, you have to stick with until the season/contest is over. (I am opting to stay with the black team because, honestly, I might forget I switched anyway.)
Also, every team is now only 3 players (well, really one of the teams is only 2 after elimination), but this might be a good opportunity to start dividng the total percentage lost by a team by 3... Feedback on that idea?
And, just 'cause I did it last week, the numbers for this week are (I am doing this in a slightly different format from before since we potentially have 2 different possibilities 1/4 - the way we have been doing it and 1/3 to more accurately reflect the team make-up at this point):
Team - Total Percent Lost by Team: 1/4 Total Percent 1/3 Total Percent
Blue Team - 4.91%: 1.23% (1/4) 1.64% (1/3)
Black Team - 4.15%*: 1.04% (1/4) 1.34% (1/3)
Red Team - 3.84%: .96% (1/4) 1.29% (1/3)
* Note that this is the first week this season the black team didn't win the weigh-in... Bob was NOT a happy camper! LOL
Starting weight: 146
11/2/11 wt: 143.4 (Loss of 1.78% or 2.6 lbs)
Next week's goal: .96% (1/4) or 1.38 lbs
I like only dividing it by 3, we knew there were going to be changes as the series continued,
@Betsy : warrior dash was awesome!!! I posted a pic of me all muddy on my profile. lol totally fun and I'm super happy I was able to finish all the obstacles! all I can say is yay for strength training.
Shopping legends and Zen! come in and join, we weigh in on weds!
I'm staying black!!
Last I weighed in at 219.2
CW: 217.8 total loss of 1%
off to watch the show as we speak!!
ack! I can't edit the OP anymore, so we'll have to find the percentages in the thread.
Betsyt- you rock my world posting the results, I haven't been able to get the show till later in the day. you rock!
AWESOME about the warrior dash - I will definitely check out the pic!
No worries about the posting percentages - I will admit I watch the show on Tuesday nights because it inspires me to push myself on the treadmill even after my Total Fit class... If they can do it, so can I! (And it helps to have "trainer voices" in my ear while they are hollering at the contestants. HAHA!)

I've been REALLY bad at logging and didn't stay perfectly on my plan the last few weeks, but wasn't awful and still exercised quite a bit. I got back on track full swing yesterday with diet and exercise and had the courage to weigh this morning and was pleasantly surprised. I'm counting this as last Wednesday's weigh-in. I'm still not in the 180s yet but I'm closer than when I started this :)
